Role Overview:

We are currently seeking an experienced and passionate Specialist 1-1 Learning Support Teacher to join our dedicated team. In this role, you will work closely with individual pupils who require additional support to overcome learning challenges, fostering their personal, social, and academic growth. You will play a crucial role in ensuring that each pupils receives the attention and guidance they need to thrive in our inclusive educational environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide individualised support and guidance to pupils with diverse learning needs, including those with specific learning difficulties, such as dyslexia, dyspraxia, and attention deficit disorders.
  • Develop and implement tailored learning strategies and intervention plans to address pupil's unique requirements, in collaboration with the SENCo (Special Educational Needs Coordinator) and classroom teachers.
  • Conduct thorough assessments of learning profiles, including their strengths, weaknesses, and learning styles, to inform targeted intervention strategies.
  • Deliver engaging and differentiated 1-1 lessons across a range of subjects, adapting teaching methods and resources to suit individual pupil need and ability
  • Monitor and evaluate progress regularly, providing constructive feedback to students, parents, and colleagues.
  • Collaborate effectively with parents, teachers, and other professionals involved in the support network to ensure a holistic and coordinated approach to learning support.
  • Stay up-to-date with current best practices, research, and advancements in learning support to enhance the quality of provision.


Qualifications and Experience:

  • Hold a recognised teaching qualification
  • Possess a specialist qualification in Learning Support or Specific Learning Difficulties (e.g., dyslexia), or demonstrate significant experience and expertise in supporting students with diverse learning needs.
  • Previous experience working with primary or preparatory school-aged children is highly desirable.
  • Familiarity with a range of assessment tools and strategies to evaluate pupil' learning profiles effectively.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with students, parents, and colleagues.
  • Patience, empathy, and a genuine passion for supporting young people's academic and personal growth.
  • Commitment to maintaining confidentiality and upholding safeguarding procedures.


Terms of Appointment

This is a permanent position offered on a zero-hours basis starting in September 2023. Working hours are approximately 13 – 15 periods per week which can be timetabled flexibly between Monday to Friday in accordance with terms dates.

About Us

Wycliffe is an HMC co-educational day and boarding school. Wycliffe is located in Stonehouse, approximately 25 miles north of Bristol and 15 miles south of Cheltenham and Gloucester. Access via the motorway network is convenient (we are 3 miles from the M5) and there is a train station in Stonehouse (on the main line from London to Cheltenham) which is just a two minute walk from the school gates. In the Senior School pupils join at Year 9 (age 13) and continue until Year 13 (age 18). There are around 420 pupils in the school and 225 in the Sixth Form. Some 27 subjects are offered at A Level including Japanese, Film Studies, Computer Science and Psychology. Three BTECs are on offer as well as the EPQ. Main sports are rugby, football and cricket for boys with hockey, netball and tennis for girls. Wycliffe is the top school in the UK for squash, and excels at rowing and basketball and there is a thriving CCF.
