Job overview

We are looking to appoint a 1-2-1 Behavioural Support Assistant as soon as possible

to join a strong team of support staff.

This post is term-time.

Little Reddings is a two-form entry primary school with nursery. We serve an ever-diversifying community in Bushey. We are part of the Bushey St James Academy Trust with Bushey Meads secondary school. We have families attending our school both from the local community and from further afield and draw children from a wide spectrum of social and economic backgrounds including social housing, a traveller site, Forces families and private housing.

The staff, Governors and children are all extremely friendly and supportive and behaviour within the school is good.  The school offers great opportunities for staff development and is on an exciting journey towards excellence.

Do you have the necessary skills and experience to support a pupil 1-2-1 with some challenging behaviour and learning difficulties?

We are looking for a behavioural support assistant with:

  • The ability to create boundaries to support learning
  • Be able to create positive relationships
  • A proven record of excellent classroom practice
  • A commitment to make learning fun and exciting
  • An ability to support the school in overcoming barriers to learning
  • Have a sense of humour and work as part of a team
  • The ability to stay calm under pressure

In return we can offer:

  • A positive, caring ethos
  • A dedicated staff team
  • A commitment to your professional development
  • Supportive governors, parents and community

The position is for 25 hours per week and will be supporting a Year 3 pupil. The post is a temporary contract linked to a specific student whilst they are attending the school. The salary for this post is APT & C Points 14 - 17 plus London Fringe (currently £16,781 - £17,772 p.a. + £840 p.a.), paid pro rata for the hours worked, and is dependent on qualifications and experience.

Applicants should be educated to post 16 level or above and have a high degree of common sense. Experience of working with children and the willingness to undertake suitable training is essential.

Please do not hesitate to contact Miss Carly Simmonds (Headteacher) should you wish to discuss the role further. Visits to the school are positively encouraged.

If you are interested in applying for this Behavioural Support Assistant position please send in a completed application form along with a covering letter to:
