Job overview

Kenton School is at the cutting-edge of modern education. With just over 1800 students, we are one of the largest schools in the North East. However, despite our size we pride ourselves on retaining a family atmosphere and in ensuring that we cater for the needs of all our students, recognising their special gifts or talents.

We are seeking applications from Mathematics and English specialists to provide additional support to our Key Stage 4 students on a one-to-one basis, or in small groups.

With a relevant teaching qualification or A level in either subject, tutors must also possess a proven track record of effective teaching or be able to demonstrate that they have the ability to work with students to progress their learning in Mathematics or English, combined with the ability to challenge, inspire and motivate students.

But most importantly, tutors must be committed to our school ethos of ‘all different, all equal,’ instilling high expectations in all our students to enable them to achieve their potential, regardless of the barriers they face.

In return, we are able to offer flexible hours within school teaching hours of 8.30 am to 3 pm with the number of hours per week expected to fall between 5 and 25, depending on the availability of tutors.

If you feel you have the experience, skills and attributes to succeed as part of our team, apply now!

Vision and values

Outstanding teaching and learning for all students, so that knowledge is embedded and disadvantage is not a barrier to learning. All students reach their potential, so that they are well placed for life beyond school. Ensuring confident, happy and resilient students, who treat others with compassion and respect.

Ofsted report

“The school’s work to promote the spiritual, moral, social and cultural education of pupils and to prepare them for life in modern Britain is also a real strength. Pupils discuss current affairs regularly through the systematic personal, social and health education (PSHE) curriculum.”
