Welcome to Brentwood School, one of the UK’s leading independent day and boarding schools for boys and girls aged 3 to 18, with a rich history spanning nearly 500 years.

Located in the heart of Brentwood, our campus is surrounded by 75 acres of playing fields and gardens. Our values – Virtue, Learning, Manners – were first penned in 1622 are at the heart of everything we do. Despite our deep roots, we embrace innovation. For example, in September 2024, we launched a Specialist Music Programme, providing rigorous training and assessment for aspiring musicians within the school curriculum. And, in Autumn 2025, we opened the doors on a state-of-the-art sector-leading boarding house. The fully-accessible house, which was years in the planning, is subdivided into three main sections; a girls' and boys' boarding house and a central shared facility including new dining and communal areas and an outdoor courtyard and dedicated landscaped social space. Single bedrooms on the upper floor offer a home-from-home for boarding students featuring cutting-edge university-style accommodation with light and airy private ensuite rooms.

Values and Vision

Although nominally a co-educational school, Brentwood School operates the diamond structure. This essentially means that pupils are taught in a co-educational setting only up to Senior School, before being split into single-sex groups. In the Sixth Form, the classes are co-educational once again, this is intended to ensure that students get the best of both single-sex and co-educational schooling. Admission into Brentwood School is selective, either by formal or informal assessment depending on year group. The school maintains high academic standards for its students, with a high-quality curriculum built around a strong set of core subjects, and supported by a huge range of co-curricular and sporting activities.
