Purpose of the Role:

The IB MYP Art Teacher plays a key role in inspiring students to explore and express their creativity through an inquiry-based arts curriculum. The purpose of this role is to guide learners in developing their artistic, conceptual, and technical skills while nurturing critical thinking, cultural awareness, and personal expression. The teacher will design engaging learning experiences aligned with the IB MYP framework, support students in developing their individual artistic voice, and contribute to a vibrant, inclusive arts programme within the school community. The IB MYP Art teacher is expected to teach and manage the design, creation, implementation and evaluation of IB MYP ART curriculum 2026-2028,  embracing the Lumio School vision, mission and values.

Lumio Private School is a new not-for-profit international school located near Paphos, Cyprus. The school opened its doors in September 2024. With a stunning 6.8-hectare site currently undergoing renovation, Lumio offers modern classrooms, well-equipped science and IT labs, dedicated spaces for arts and sports, and a variety of extracurricular activities. The school is conveniently accessible from major motorways.

Qualifications needed:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Fine Arts, Visual Arts Education, Art Education, or a related field (Master’s preferred).

  • Teaching certification or qualification valid for secondary education.

  • Experience teaching in the IB MYP or inquiry-based learning environments (preferred).

  • Strong understanding of visual arts techniques, media, and contemporary practices.

  • Ability to differentiate instruction and support a diverse range of learners.

  • Excellent communication, organisational, and interpersonal skills.

  • Commitment to ongoing professional growth and reflective practice.

  • Passionate about fostering creativity and artistic expression in young people.

  • Open-minded, culturally sensitive, and enthusiastic about international education.

Role Responsibilities:

  • Plan, deliver, and assess high-quality, inquiry-driven Visual Arts lessons aligned with the MYP Arts objectives.

  • Design authentic, engaging units of inquiry that integrate conceptual understanding and global contexts.

  • Guide students through the creative cycle, promoting experimentation, problem-solving, and reflective practice.

  • Provide constructive, timely feedback to support student progress and artistic growth.

  • Create a safe, stimulating, and visually rich learning environment that celebrates student work.

  • Maintain accurate documentation, assessment records, and reporting in line with IB expectations.

  • Facilitate opportunities for exhibitions, showcases, and community involvement in the arts.

  • Collaborate with colleagues to support interdisciplinary learning and whole-school initiatives.

  • Participate in IB training, professional development, and ongoing curriculum planning.

  • Uphold school policies, safeguard student wellbeing, and model the school’s values and mission.
