Job Description


Him Lam International School Bac Ninh is searching for a dedicated and experienced Whole School PE/Sports teacher to join our team. As a PE/Sport teacher, you will be required to deliver lessons that develop students' theoretical and applied sports skills. You will also be responsible for assigning homework, grading assignments and quizzes, and documenting students' progress.

To improve the quality of learning outcomes for students by providing teaching and learning ‘best practices’ within the framework of the school’s Mission, Vision, Core Values, Learning Principles and Learner Sphere, Culture, and the appropriate national and international programmes.


To be successful as a PE/Sports teacher, you should possess a thorough understanding of effective teaching practices. Our ideal candidate will be able to create a stimulating learning environment that is sensitive to students' psychosocial needs.

  1. Duties

  • Plan, organise, and provide instruction that are aligned with the Cambridge curriculum and school standards to meet the varied learning styles, abilities, and needs of students.

  • Develop and deliver lesson plans that utilise a broad range of appropriate teaching techniques and strategies to differentiate for the individual student's success.

  • Provide individual and small-group instruction to adapt the curriculum to the needs of students with varying intellectual and sporting abilities, and to accommodate a variety of instructional activities.

  • Guide students in the proper care and use of tools and equipment.

  • Ensure that the general environment at the sports facilities is in keeping with Health and Safety procedures and that the furniture requirements and general environment are kept in good order, reporting any concerns to the person in charge of premises and facilities.

  • Address all aspects of communication through appropriate instruction that develops each student’s knowledge and abilities in appropriate grade levels and subjects.

  • Administer academic assessments for the purpose of evaluating student progress in meeting academic learning targets and progress in knowledge acquisition; and prepare the necessary written and oral progress reports to relevant stakeholders.

  • Observe and evaluate student wellbeing, as a subject teacher and homeroom teacher, to promote and support their personal and social development.

  • Establish and maintain standards of student behaviour required to run an orderly and productive classroom environment.

  • Maintain constant awareness of the needs of any children to whom English is another language.

  • Ensure that lesson plans are adapted to ensure differentiation for students who have additional needs.

  • Collaborate with other teachers to share new ideas, approaches and professional knowledge. 

  • Ensure regular collaboration with SEN and EAL to ensure a holistic approach is followed regarding students of varying developmental levels.

  • Check the attendance of students at lessons and follow up on what they are doing as well as on the quality of class work, homework and any other coursework.

  • Maintain up-to-date records and forward lesson plans for approval to the Head of International Programme under the guidance and with approval from the School Director. 

  • Maintain accurate and professional communication with parents, ensuring parents are updated with children's status and progress. Keep parent communication platforms updated per requirements set at the beginning of the year. Add additional information as per request.

  • Participate in curriculum, homeroom, extra-curricular and other developmental programmes.

  • Participate in school activities such as Sports training, competitions and tournaments; Open Day; Admissions Day; After School Activities; PD training or Parent-Teacher Conferences. 

  • Oversee assigned out-of-classroom activities during the school day, as needed.

  • Maintain cordial relations and communication with other school staff members.

  • Ensure effective utilisation of resources, materials, and equipment.

  • Other tasks as assigned by the Head of the International Programme as director line manager 

     

    1. Education

  • Bachelor/Master's degree in Physical Education or Sports Science.

  • Recognised teaching certificate/license in subject.

  • Cambridge certificate (desirable)

  1. Experience

  • Minimum of 3 years of teaching experience in similar position in an international or bilingual school setting

  • Previous experience with the Cambridge PE curriculum is desirable 

  1. Skills & Knowledge 

  • Native level of English

  • Creativity/flexibility/adaptability/enthusiasm for teaching diverse learners from different cultural backgrounds/languages/abilities/interests/personalities 

  • Ability to use technology effectively in teaching and learning including online learning management system, online collaboration tools or online assessment tools

A willingness and commitment to contribute fully to the life of the pupils and school beyond the academic day, including active par­ticipation in the academic enrichment and co-curricular programmes.
