The Whole School Librarian is responsible for curating and managing high-quality learning resources, promoting a vibrant reading culture, supporting teaching and learning across all phases, and ensuring that our library facilities provide welcoming, engaging, and inclusive environments.
The post-holder works closely with the Head of Primary, Head of Secondary, teachers across all divisions, the Library Assistant, and Early Years Library staff to ensure the library contributes meaningfully to Lanna’s mission, vision, and Schoolwide Learning Outcomes (SLOs).
As part of the school, your key roles will be:
- Manage and develop library services, resources, and learning environments across Early Years, Primary, and Secondary.
- Support teaching and learning by promoting reading, information literacy, and effective use of library resources.
- Supervise library staff, advise leadership, and lead schoolwide reading events and community engagement activities.
- Oversee daily library operations, including inventory, circulation, displays, and maintaining partnerships with external libraries.
What we are looking for:
- A relevant qualification in Library Science, Education, or a related field, with experience working in a school library setting (Early Years, Primary, and/or Secondary).
- Strong knowledge of children’s and young adult literature, alongside experience managing library resources, cataloguing systems, and digital platforms.
- A passionate, highly organised, and proactive professional with excellent communication skills and the ability to build positive relationships across all age groups.
- A creative and inquiry-minded educator committed to reading promotion, information literacy, and enriching learning through research skills, digital tools, and library-based events.
Please note: Applicants without a full teaching qualification and a relevant degree will not be considered.
What we offer:
- A warm, diverse, and supportive international school community that values collaboration and professional trust.
- A leadership role overseeing three well-resourced libraries, with the opportunity to shape a whole-school reading and research culture.
- A collaborative, innovation-driven environment with strong opportunities for professional development and growth.
- A competitive salary and benefits package, within a school committed to excellence across Early Years, Primary, and Secondary.
Why Join Us?
- Work in a supportive environment that values excellence and innovation in teaching.
- Be part of a community that prioritises student engagement and holistic development.
- Have opportunities for professional growth, including development into leadership roles.

We are fully committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, and we expect all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. All candidates must demonstrate their suitability to work with children and a strong commitment to safeguarding, including ongoing participation in safeguarding training.
All applicants will undergo rigorous and standardised safeguarding checks, which include:
- Three professional references, verified by telephone. For teaching roles, at least two must be from Head Teachers within the past six years, including the most recent Head Teacher from the most recent school. Referees may be contacted before the interview.
- Identity and qualification verification.
- Enhanced criminal background checks, as well as police clearances from every country in which the applicant has lived for more than six months within the past ten years.
- A full review of employment history, with any gaps required to be clearly explained and followed up on during the interview process.
Due to the high volume of applications, only shortlisted applicants will receive a response.
If you’re excited by the opportunity to make a meaningful impact and contribute to an exceptional learning community, we would be delighted to hear from you. Apply now and help shape the future of our students!

Lanna International School Thailand (Lanna) is one of the largest and longest established international schools in Chiang Mai. It was founded in 1993 to serve all families in the Thai and international communities of Chiang Mai by providing quality education in a coeducational, non-sectarian English-medium international school setting.
Lanna delivers a British style education based on the National Curriculum of England and Wales, adapted to more fully meet the needs of our environment and our school population of students from Early Years to Year 13. We prioritise the recruitment of highly qualified and experienced British and International staff.
The school offers a broad and balanced curriculum which is supported by a strong team of specialist teachers and assistants. External assessments and examinations are taken by students in Y4, 5, and 6 using ISA (International Schools Assessment), Y11 (IGCSE) and Y12/13 (AS/A Levels). These are administered by the Cambridge International Examinations and Edexcel Boards. Lanna is accredited by WASC, licensed by the Thai Ministry of Education, is a member of the East Asia Regional Council of Overseas Schools (EARCOS), and since 2005 has been a Cambridge University International Examination Centre.
From its beginning, Lanna has encouraged applications from students of diverse cultural, academic and linguistic backgrounds, and welcomes students from around thirty different nationalities, speaking seventeen languages. Emphasising internationalism at its very essence, Lanna believes that the diversity of its student body is one of its greatest strengths and helps to support the school’s mission to prepare its students to be responsible world citizens.
Lanna believes that our student-centred programme of study and extensive range of extracurricular activities provide our students with the challenges that enable them to reach their full potential academically, socially, emotionally and physically. In a school like Lanna with a rich cultural diversity, the values imparted are of great importance for later life. We seek to instill in our student's tolerance, dignity and respect for others. We strive to ensure that our students act both responsibly and independently whether at school or in the community outside. Lanna’s Schoolwide Learning Outcomes (SLOs) are the foundations of the type learners we aim for and are embedded throughout the teaching and learning in each year group.
Lanna International School has grown so much since its conception in 1993 with the opening of new Primary School Campus in 2018 and the new Early Years Complex opening in 2019. Catering for over 600 students, Lanna is a supportive and caring environment for all, where no challenge is too big, and no dream is beyond arm’s reach.
