Job overview
Ace Education Manchester is a specialist alternative provision for secondary-age pupils with social, emotional and mental health (SEMH) needs. We support young people who are unable to attend mainstream school due to anxiety, emotional regulation difficulties, behaviour, or school refusal, and who need a calm, structured and relationship-led environment to re-engage with education.
Ace Education Manchester operates as part of the wider Angel Meadow Education Group, which also includes Angel Meadow School, an independent special school for pupils with Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs). This means our staff benefit from shared safeguarding systems, leadership, training and CPD across both provisions, while working in a focused SEMH setting.
We are now seeking English, Maths and General Teachers to join our growing team, on either a full-time or part-time basis.
The Role
You will teach small groups of pupils (typically 4–6 learners) with SEMH needs who require a highly supportive, flexible and trauma-informed approach. Pupils may be working below age-related expectations, have gaps in learning, or be rebuilding confidence after periods out of school.
Your role will be to help pupils reconnect with education, develop core skills and prepare for transition back into mainstream, special school or vocational pathways.
Key Responsibilities
Deliver English, Maths or general curriculum lessons to small SEMH groups
Adapt teaching to meet emotional, behavioural and academic needs
Use practical, engaging and flexible approaches to learning
Support pupils with anxiety, emotional dysregulation and school avoidance
Track progress and contribute to reports and reviews
Build positive, trusting relationships with pupils
Use trauma-informed and restorative behaviour approaches
Support emotional regulation, routines and engagement
Work closely with mentors and support staff to maintain consistency
Contribute to safeguarding and behaviour systems
Access CPD and training through Angel Meadow School
Maintain accurate records and contribute to Ofsted-ready evidence
Work collaboratively as part of a multi-disciplinary team
We Are Looking For Someone Who
Is a qualified teacher or experienced unqualified teacher (QTS preferred but not essential)
Has experience working with SEMH, AP or vulnerable learners
Can teach English, Maths or a broad secondary curriculum
Is calm, resilient and relationship-focused
Believes in second chances and inclusive education
What We Offer
Small classes and strong relationships
Shorter working day (08:30–14:30) supporting work-life balance
Full-time or part-time contracts available
High-quality CPD through Angel Meadow School
A supportive, values-driven leadership team
Clear pathways into SEND and special school roles
Safeguarding Statement
Angel Meadow School is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people. All staff are expected to share this commitment and uphold the highest standards of safeguarding practice. Appointments are subject to an enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check, satisfactory references and other pre-employment checks in line with safer recruitment guidance.
