We are excited to recruit a Head of History to lead our dynamic department. This role is ideal for a passionate history specialist ready to take their first step into leadership, or a current middle leader seeking a fresh, supportive environment in which to grow.

What You Will Do

As Head of History, you will guide the strategic direction of the department while delivering an inspiring and ambitious Key Stage 3 & 4 curriculum. You’ll shape learning experiences that spark curiosity, deepen historical understanding, and empower students to think critically about the world around them.

Skills & Qualifications

  • A deep passion for history and a desire to inspire young people

  • Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage departmental responsibilities effectively

  • Excellent communication skills for working collaboratively with staff, students and families

  • A track record of planning and delivering engaging lessons, particularly at KS4

  • Motivation to develop leadership skills through the training and support we provide

  • Relevant academic or teaching qualifications (e.g., degree in History or Education)

As a school we are so proud of both how hard Year 11 have worked over the past five years and how brilliantly they coped with the disruptions caused by Covid-19.
