Job Role

To deliver high-quality History education across Key Stages 3–5 within a British curriculum framework, fostering critical thinking, historical enquiry, and strong academic outcomes. The role requires contributing to the academic, pastoral, and extracurricular life of the school while upholding high standards of teaching, learning, and student progress.

Job Responsibilities

  • Plan, prepare, and deliver engaging and challenging History lessons aligned with the curriculum.

  • Develop schemes of work, lesson plans, and assessment strategies to support differentiated learning and attainment for all students.

  • Assess, monitor, and track student progress, providing timely feedback and implementing interventions where required.

  • Promote historical enquiry, analytical thinking, and research skills through varied and innovative teaching approaches.

  • Maintain a positive, inclusive, and well-managed classroom environment that supports student well-being and engagement.

  • Contribute to curriculum planning, enrichment activities, educational trips, and whole-school initiatives.

  • Fulfil pastoral responsibilities as a form tutor, supporting students’ academic and personal development.

  • Collaborate effectively with colleagues, phase leaders, and senior leadership to ensure consistent delivery of the British curriculum.

  • Communicate professionally with parents regarding student progress, attainment, and behaviour.

  • Ensure compliance with school policies, safeguarding requirements, and KHDA expectations.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in History (or related subject) and a recognised teaching qualification (PGCE/PGDE or equivalent).

  • Proven experience teaching History within the British curriculum (Key Stages 3–5).

  • Experience teaching in the UAE or an international school setting is desirable.

  • Excellent classroom management, communication, and organisational skills.

  • Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
