About Institut auf dem Rosenberg

At Institut auf dem Rosenberg – the Artisans of Education® – each student follows an individually designed educational pathway supported by the school’s Individual Development Programme® (IDP). Located in St. Gallen, Switzerland, the award-winning boarding school educates students aged 4–19 from more than 50 nationalities and was recently named the Best Boarding School in the World. For 135 years, Rosenberg has developed a distinctive model of personalised education.

Rosenberg offers a continuous education from Kindergarten through High School within a fully integrated academic and boarding environment, allowing students to grow within a stable and carefully structured international community.

Students follow the Rosenberg International Curriculum, through which academic pathways are tailored to each student’s strengths, ambitions and long-term goals. Rosenberg prepares students for an exceptionally broad range of externally examined qualifications, including the IB Diploma Programme, A-Levels, GCSEs and Advanced Placement (AP) courses — a breadth of rigorous pathways rarely offered within a single school.

With a 1:3 staff-to-student ratio and average class sizes of eight, teaching at Rosenberg is deliberately personalised. Faculty work closely with motivated and academically ambitious international students and contribute to the design of genuinely bespoke learning programmes.

Academic study is complemented by the Rosenberg Talent & Enrichment Programme, offering more than 60 co-curricular courses across areas such as design, leadership, sustainability, robotics and entrepreneurship. Many programmes are developed in collaboration with leading companies, industry professionals and international partners.

Rosenberg is also recognised for pioneering initiatives that extend beyond the traditional classroom. These include the Rosenberg AI Charter, a student-led framework addressing the responsible role of artificial intelligence in society, and Rosenberg House Davos, where students host and moderate discussions with world leaders and thinkers in Davos during the World Economic Forum while presenting student- and youth-led solutions to global challenges.

At Rosenberg, education is approached as a craft. Guided by the philosophy of the Artisans of Education®, students follow individually designed pathways supported by the Individual Development Programme® (IDP), aligning academic development with personal ambitions and long-term goals. Within intentionally small classes, teachers engage deeply with each student’s intellectual development and support ambitions that often extend far beyond traditional academic programmes.

Rosenberg remains committed to an educational model in which learning is deliberately crafted rather than standardised, enabling each student to develop the intellectual independence, confidence and global perspective required to shape the future.
