Job Description

Job Title: Multilingual Learning (MLL) Teacher

Our Purpose at The Alice Smith School

According to the words of our school song: ‘Soon there were two, who were joined by a few’, Alice Smith started a movement with just two people. That single brave act sparked a positive chain reaction. She inspired other families to join her on her journey, creating a nurturing environment for generations of learners and a home away from home for thousands of families.

In that same vein, we keep the Alice Smith spirit alive by building a nurturing community that encourages our students to explore the world with courage, curiosity and compassion.

Our students and teachers share a love of learning and thrive from their positive and enriching experience with us. Charlotte Moore, Head of Upper School shares her views,

“As a family we are delighted to have made the move to Alice Smith and to be part of the vibrant community in KL. We are very grateful to all of the people at Alice Smith who have made our transition from the Middle East to South-East Asia, via the UK, so much easier. People often ask me why we made the move across the globe to live and work in KL. For me, the answer is quite simple: the ethos at Alice Smith matches exactly what I would want for my own children and for the students that I have taught, or am yet to teach. Giving each child the best possible experience and encouraging them to make each day count means so much. Whether that is in the classroom, or by giving students experiences that allow them to develop their own character and build relationships that are built on mutual respect and trust and celebrating difference whilst we embrace diversity. Just like I don't believe there is only one winner, I also don't believe in an academic hierarchy where some subjects are more worthy than others. Alice Smith supports students to walk a path of equal opportunity with enthusiasm, pride and an open-mind. I am looking forward to this next adventure.”

The Alice Smith School is a founding member of the Federation of British International Schools in Asia (FOBISIA) and an accredited member of the Council of British International Schools (COBIS).

Accredited as a British School Overseas (BSO), we achieved an Excellent grading in inspections in 2011 and 2014, and in March 2019, received an Outstanding COBIS Patron’s Accreditation and Compliance Report. In June 2024, we were awarded two prestigious COBIS Beacon Status Awards, for Ethos & Values (Standard 5B) and Student Leadership in the School (Standard 8D), recognising our school as a Beacon School that exemplifies excellence in COBIS standards and shares best practice globally.

Education is delivered across two campuses, Primary and Secondary, approximately 20 minutes apart, each with exceptional resources and facilities. With an innovative approach to digital technology and digital wellbeing, we operate as a Google Workspace for Education school, using Google Sites and Google Classroom across Windows and Mac platforms to provide tailored learning opportunities for students.

Our commitment to excellence is sustained by a strong culture of professional learning, where staff benefit from regular, high‑quality training, collaborative planning, and opportunities to engage in regional and international networks, including FOBISIA and COBIS.

Our school motto Sic itur ad astra – In this way you shall reach the stars, reflects the school’s purpose: to help every student aim high, grow through challenge and achieve their full potential. The stars symbolise dreams, excellence, discovery and a bright future, and the phrase reminds everyone that there is a deliberate, courageous path (“in this way”) to reach that goal.
