Opportunity:
We seek a Grade 1 Homeroom Teacher who is passionate about nurturing young learners and developing their foundational academic skills within the IB PYP framework. In this role, you will create a safe, engaging, and inquiry-based environment that supports students in building their academic, social, and emotional skills. The ideal candidate will foster strong classroom management, promote respect and trust, and ensure students have a solid foundation for future learning.
As a Grade 1 Homeroom Teacher, you will be key in guiding students through a critical stage of their learning journey, encouraging curiosity, and helping them develop both academically and personally as they progress within the PYP framework.
The Ideal Candidate Will:
- Hold a recognised teaching qualification and relevant teaching experience in a primary setting
- Have experience or be committed to working within the IB PYP framework, continuing to build their knowledge and expertise in inquiry-based learning
- Demonstrate strong classroom management skills, creating a positive, structured environment where students feel safe and engaged
- Be passionate about developing foundational academic skills such as reading, writing, and numeracy in young learners
- Show a commitment to differentiating instruction to meet the diverse needs of all learners, including those with learning differences
- Be a native-level English speaker or demonstrate near-native fluency
- Be flexible, collaborative, and excited to contribute to a growing and evolving school culture
- Integrate technology in meaningful ways to enhance student inquiry and learning
- Have experience working with students from diverse cultural and linguistic backgrounds, fostering an inclusive classroom environment
- Engage in school-wide events, after-school activities, school clubs and collaborative meetings to contribute to the school community

About Kosice International School
Kosice International School (KEIS) is the first international school in Eastern Slovakia. Our school is an authorised International Baccalaureate (IB) World School offering the Primary Years Programme (PYP) curriculum with a particular focus on technology-enhanced learning.
