Role Overview
The Secondary English Curriculum Coordinator will lead curriculum design, instructional practice and assessment for the Secondary English programme. Working closely with Heads of Department, subject teachers and senior leaders, the coordinator will ensure coherent progression, high standards of teaching and learning, and outstanding student outcomes. The post holder will promote scientific literacy, inquiry, and practical skills while supporting professional development and collaboration across the faculty.
Key Responsibilities
Curriculum Leadership: Lead the design, review and implementation of the Secondary English curriculum to ensure alignment with Cambridge International and Vietnamese requirements and clear progression between key stages.
Teaching & Learning: Promote exemplary pedagogical practice, inquiry‑based learning and practical investigation across English. This position will include a teaching requirement of up to 50% of the standard teaching workload (c12 hours per week)
Assessment & Reporting: Develop and maintain robust assessment frameworks, moderation processes and reporting practices to monitor student progress and inform teaching.
Staff Development: Plan and deliver targeted professional learning, mentoring and coaching for English teachers to raise standards and share effective practice.
Resource Management: Oversee the procurement, of learning resources and English materials; advise on budgetary needs.
Quality Assurance: Implement regular curriculum review cycles, lesson observations and data analysis to support continuous improvement across the faculty.
Cross‑Curricular Collaboration: Work with colleagues in English, Design & Technology and ICT to develop interdisciplinary projects and promote initiatives.
Student Enrichment: Lead extracurricular Mathematics activities, competitions and enrichment programmes to foster curiosity, participation and student leadership in science.
Safeguarding & Safety: Ensure all practical work complies with health and safety regulations and that safeguarding policies are upheld in line with school expectations.
Stakeholder Engagement: Communicate curriculum intent and student progress to parents, liaise with external partners and contribute to whole‑school academic priorities.
Ideal Candidate Profile
Curriculum Expertise: Strong knowledge of Secondary English curricula (Cambridge IGCSE/IGSE, A‑Level).
Teaching Experience: Proven track record of successful classroom teaching across secondary year groups, including experience preparing students for external examinations.
Leadership & Collaboration: Experience leading curriculum initiatives, mentoring colleagues and working effectively within a multicultural school community.
Assessment & Data Use: Confident in using assessment data to diagnose learning needs, inform planning and raise attainment.
Communication Skills: Excellent written and spoken English with the ability to engage students, parents and colleagues across diverse backgrounds.
Innovative Mindset: A reflective practitioner who embraces evidence‑based approaches, technology‑enhanced learning and continuous professional improvement.

Essential Criteria
Minimum of a Bachelor of Education and/or qualified teacher status (e.g. PGCE, QTS or international equivalent) and a strong honours degree in English.
iGCSE FLE (or just GCSE English if coming from the UK) and A-Level Literature experience. This is a mandatory requirement and applicants should clearly highlight this on their CV and be prepared to discuss at length during the interview process.
Substantial secondary teaching experience with demonstrable impact on student outcomes.
Experience of curriculum leadership, assessment design and professional development for colleagues.
Right to work in Vietnam by the July 2026 start date, or willingness to complete necessary visa and relocation processes with support from VAS.
