We are seeking to appoint a highly qualified mathematics teacher who is a creative and committed individual of high calibre to join our dynamic Mathematics Department. The person should look forward to delivering the highest quality of learning in a stimulating, happy and safe environment.

Key Responsibilities and Duties

Within the Mathematics Department, you are joining a team who takes pride in ensuring every student enjoys learning mathematics and solving problems. While the school strives to avail the access of IGCSE Additional Mathematics to as many students as possible, the goal is to provide a strong foundation to enable them to be prepared for the IB Diploma Programme and beyond.

Other duties include form-teachership work where you will partner with a teacher to tutor a form class by leading the Pastoral Care (PC) lessons as well as be the point of contact between the school and the families. Other pastoral care duties include leading or managing after-school clubs/activities.

 

Qualities of the Applicant

Essential

  • Believes that every child is mouldable and teachable and willing to go the extra-mile for the child and are expected to provide student consultation sessions within school work hours

  • Collaborate well with colleagues in the Mathematics Department on curriculum, curriculum resources, pedagogy and assessment related work

  • Work well with students and parents by providing constant verbal and written feedback

  • Possess at least an undergraduate Honours Degree in Mathematics and a recognised teacher certification, i.e. Bachelor of Education, Postgraduate Diploma in Education or equivalent. A postgraduate degree in Mathematics or Statistics is preferred

  • Have at least 5 years of experience in IGCSE Additional Mathematics, IBDP Mathematics Analysis and Approaches, AP Calculus/Statistics or Singapore-GCE ‘A’ Level curriculum

  • To embrace an inquiry-based learning culture where students ask questions and engage in mathematical problem solving within their mathematics curriculum

  • To focus on conceptual understanding, emphasizing the importance of understanding key concepts over rote learning and memorization of routines and mathematical procedures

  • To encourage students to make connections between different mathematical topics and between subjects and real world situations

  • To be skilful in differentiated instruction to meet the diverse learning needs of the learners in the classroom

  • To be comfortable teaching across a wide range of year levels, from Grade 7 to Grade 12 across the different curricula in the secondary school

  • To promote collaborative learning and encourage interdisciplinary approaches in teaching and learning, especially in student-led projects and school committee work that span across and beyond academic subjects

  • Leverage on technology to enhance learning experiences in the classroom. In particular, applicants should be proficient with mathematical teaching tools such as Desmos, GeoGebra and Texas Instruments CX graphing calculator, managing online lessons with the use of apps such as Zoom, Google Classroom Suite applications

Desirable

  • Experience in teaching high-achievers in Mathematics

  • Experience in teaching a diverse group of students in a classroom

  • Enhanced technology skills such as the integration of AI tools to enhance teaching and learning work in the school
