About Alleyn Court Preparatory School

About Alleyn Court Preparatory School

Alleyn Court Preparatory School is a co-educational, non-selective prep school for children aged 2–11, set in 16 acres of semi-rural grounds on the outskirts of Southend-on-Sea. Our site includes extensive playing fields, a sports hall, tennis courts, a Tudor walled garden, two woodland areas with Forest School and a lake – all of which are used as rich extensions of the classroom.

Childhood at its best is busy, joyful and full of discovery. At Alleyn Court, children enjoy small classes (typically around 18 pupils) and a warm, family feel where every individual is known, encouraged and stretched.

Early Years begins in our Montessori-inspired Nursery, moving into Reception and Pre-Prep, where strong foundations in literacy, numeracy and social skills are carefully built. From Year 1 upwards, pupils benefit increasingly from specialist teaching in subjects such as sport, music, languages, computing and the arts.

By Years 5 and 6, all lessons are taught by subject specialists, mirroring the senior school model and supporting a smooth transition to the next stage. Although we are proudly non-selective, we have high aspirations for every child and prepare pupils for a wide range of senior schools, including local grammar schools, leading independents and high-performing state schools.

We believe in a broad, ambitious education that blends academic challenge with creativity, character, sport and outdoor learning – helping children leave us curious, confident and ready for what comes next.
