Aldar Education is seeking an outstanding Teacher of Art and Design to join Muna British Academy in Abu Dhabi, commencing in the 2026–2027 academic year.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
Teaching and Learning
• Demonstrate strong subject knowledge across the art and design curriculum, delivering high quality teaching across Key Stage 3, Key Stage 4 and Key Stage 5, including GCSE, A Level and BTEC pathways where appropriate.
• Teach a broad range of art and design disciplines at Key Stage 3, including drawing, painting, sculpture, mixed media, digital art and design processes, with the ability to specialise in a subject area at Key Stage 4 and Key Stage 5 where required.
• Deliver engaging and well-structured lessons that develop students’ creativity, technical skills, visual literacy and understanding of artistic processes and concepts.
• Plan and deliver schemes of work aligned with the UK National Curriculum at KS3 and with the requirements of examination boards at KS4 and KS5.
• Prepare students effectively for external qualifications including (I)GCSE, A Level and BTEC Art and Design qualifications.
• Promote creative exploration through experimentation with materials, techniques, processes and artistic styles.
• Provide high quality guidance and feedback during coursework and portfolio development to ensure students meet examination requirements.
• Plan lessons and sequences of learning that meet the needs of all learners, ensuring challenge and support across the full ability range.
• Use assessment effectively to monitor student progress, inform planning and support students in achieving their potential.
• Develop students’ independence, resilience and reflective practice through sketchbook work, research, experimentation and portfolio development.
• Ensure that art studios and classrooms are organised effectively and that resources and displays support a stimulating and inspiring creative learning environment.
• Maintain high standards of health and safety when students are using specialist materials, tools and equipment.
• Use a range of teaching strategies, including digital technology and blended learning approaches, to enhance student engagement and progress.
• Support the needs of all learners including POD (SEN), EAL and G&T students through effective differentiation and inclusive teaching practices.
• Contribute to curriculum development within the art and design department, ensuring that the curriculum remains engaging, rigorous and aligned with developments in contemporary art, design and creative industries.
Assessment, Progress and Achievement
• Monitor and track student progress using assessment data to inform teaching and identify students who require additional challenge or support.
• Provide clear and constructive feedback that supports students in improving their artistic skills, creative processes and portfolio development.
• Prepare students effectively for internal and external assessments through structured guidance, coursework support and portfolio preparation.
• Contribute to departmental moderation and standardisation processes to ensure accurate and consistent assessment.
• Support students in developing strong research, experimentation, evaluation and presentation skills required for GCSE, A Level and BTEC Art and Design qualifications.
Behaviour Management and Student Wellbeing
• Follow the school’s behaviour policy and maintain high expectations for student conduct and engagement.
• Manage classes effectively using positive behaviour strategies that support a focused and productive learning environment.
• Build positive relationships with students, encouraging respect, responsibility and independence.
• Act as a positive role model and uphold the values and ethos of the school.
• Support the pastoral development of students and contribute to the wider wellbeing and safeguarding of all learners.
Professional Responsibilities and Wider Contribution
• Contribute to the wider life of the school through enrichment activities, clubs, exhibitions and competitions that extend students’ learning beyond the classroom.
• Support whole-school initiatives and cross-curricular opportunities that promote creativity, sustainability, innovation and enterprise.
• Participate in departmental planning, professional development and collaborative working with colleagues.
• Maintain accurate records and contribute to reporting and parent communication processes.
• Carry out duties and responsibilities as directed in line with the school’s policies and expectations.
• Uphold the highest standards of safeguarding, child protection and professional conduct at all times.
REQUIREMENTS
Minimum Qualifications: A Bachelor’s Degree in a related subject with PGCE or equivalent teaching qualification.
Minimum Experience: A minimum of 2 years of experience working in a similar role.

Muna British Academy opened in September 2009. Facilities at the school are excellent and include a large astro-turf field, outdoor swimming pool, well stocked library, a large multi-purpose hall and gym, a number of computer suites and outdoor play areas.
