Job overview
We are seeking a dedicated and proactive University and Careers Advisor with experience, to join our secondary school team. The successful candidate will play a key role in supporting students as they explore post-secondary education and career pathways. This position focuses on guiding students through university research, global application processes, and career exploration so that they are well prepared for their next steps beyond school. Our students are aspirational in their university destinations with 6 graduating classes, 300 alumni to date, spanning 14 different countries.
Working closely with the University and Careers Director and the U&C Team, the advisor will support students from Key Stage 3 to Key Stage 5 in developing informed exit plans and making confident decisions about their futures. A key aspect of this role will also be delivering a comprehensive whole-school careers programme, ensuring students have meaningful exposure to universities, industries, and professional pathways.
Key Responsibilities
Provide individual and group guidance to students on university pathways, career options, deadlines and global application processes
Meet regularly with students and maintain detailed, accurate records of guidance conversations and progress
Coach individual students with university applications, including research, entry requirements, application materials and platforms
Guide families through financial aid and scholarship possibilities
Deliver a structured careers programme for Key Stages 3-5
Plan and run careers-related events such as Work Experience, Careers Week, Careers Day, university fairs, and guest speaker events
Build partnerships with universities, employers, alumni, and industry professionals to expand student opportunities with visits and fairs
Use the Unifrog platform to support student guidance, track engagement, and manage careers and university data
Work collaboratively with staff, students, and parents to support student progression and informed decision-making
Be a member of the SAT testing team
Develop strong alumni connections
Contribute to the department's marketing and communication commitments
Maintain up-to-date knowledge of admissions requirements, application processes, scholarships, and trends across local and international higher education systems.

Be detail oriented, data analysis, good time management and organisational skills
Be able to work successfully under pressure, with excellent organisational and communication skills
Empathetic, student-centred, and culturally responsive approach
Flexible, adaptable, and responsive to evolving student needs and higher education trends
Ongoing record of professional development within university and careers counselling.
Desirable Experience
Previous experience in university counselling, careers advising, or student guidance within an international school or international education setting
Experience using Unifrog and university application systems and platforms such as ManageBac, UCAS, CAO, Studielink and the Common App.
Liaison with private university representatives
Knowledge of global university admissions processes, requirements and deadlines, scholarship and visa applications
Have QTS: Qualified Teacher Status
Team leadership and management experience.
