Central Academy is part of United Learning, a large and growing group of schools aiming to offer a life changing education to children and young people across England. Schools within United Learning work as a team and achieve more by sharing than any single school could. By collecting expertise and combining resources, we help to make the tough job of teaching a little easier. With a shared curriculum and lesson plans from around the group available to all, our teachers have strong foundations to lead the engaging, rounded education our children deserve. Our intranet site, United Hub, is just one example of how we share this resource and communicate across sites, helping to simplify processes and manage workloads for an improved work-life balance. We reward our staff: with wide career opportunities – between Primary and Secondary, Academy and Independent – better pay, benefits, and ultimately the satisfaction of helping every child at each of our schools to succeed and reach their full potential.

Are you ambitious for all our young people and their life chances? Would you like to benefit from superb professional development opportunities and to work in one of the best equipped schools in the County? If so then we would be very interested in hearing from you.

Rated Good by Ofsted in April 2017, we are seeking to recruit a professional and talented 2nd in Department to work within our established and highly successful English Department. January 2018 start or September 2017 depending on availability or by negotiation.

This is an exciting time to become part of Central Academy. Having achieved our best ever set of results we are now the 9th highest performing of the 61 secondary schools in Cumbria. We are also the most improved school in the county and in United Learning and the top performing school in Carlisle for progress. We want you to be part of our professional, supportive and friendly team. Our recent Good Ofsted outcome has recognised the progress of all areas of the Academy and given us some further insight into how we can continue to work towards our ambition of becoming an Outstanding school

Central Academy is part of the United Learning Group and situated in the city centre of Carlisle. Close to the Scottish Borders and the Lake District, we also benefit from a £30m new build.

Being part of United Learning, one of the leading school groups in the country, we offer unrivalled career development opportunities and support to ensure you achieve your ambitions.
