Scope of Responsibility
Every Staff at GUIS is responsible for providing a safe and developmentally appropriate environment following the GUIS program philosophy, school policies and procedures. The teacher at GUIS, plays a crucial role in delivering high-quality lessons and supporting the academic and personal development of students. Aligned with the school's vision and values, the teacher is responsible for creating a nurturing, engaging, and inclusive learning environment that fosters student success, intellectual curiosity and a love of learning.
Major Duties:
Safeguarding and Wellbeing:
• Ensure the safety, wellbeing and positive behaviour of all stakeholders
• Work in line with GUIS's safeguarding and child protection policy and procedures
Key Responsibilities
In line with teaching standards relevant to A Level division, teachers should:
• Plan and deliver well-structured, engaging lessons
• Adapt teaching approaches to respond to the strengths and needs of all students.
• Assess, monitor, and record students' progress, providing data-driven instructional strategies to support teaching and learning
• Establish a safe, inclusive and stimulating learning environment which helps all students make progress
• Contribute to the development and implementation of the school's curriculum and schemes of work
• Understands the need to and works closely with improving levels of literacy and oracy in all lessons.
Whole-School Responsibilities:
• Contribute to the development, implementation, and evaluation of the school's policies, practice and procedures to support the school's vision and values, with specific adherence to Social and Emotional Wellbeing of students
• Participate in the wider life and ethos of the school, including extracurricular activities and school events.
• Participate in up to six marketing events throughout the academic school year, as required.
• Provide cover for other teachers as and when requested.
Specific Division’s Duties
• Teaching load (60m/lesson): Maximum 18 lessons per week.
• Co-Curricular Activities (CCA): All teachers are required to do two sessions per week (unpaid). Staff who have stipend responsibilities are required to offer one session per week (unpaid).
• Office Hour: 15:55hrs – 16:40hrs every Tuesday and Thursday.
• Homeroom duty: All teachers are expected to take the HRS (unpaid) role when required.
• Marketing & Admissions days: up to six unpaid days to support marketing events when required.
Required Qualifications, Skills, Experience and Attributes:
• An internationally recognised teaching qualification
• Proficient in the language of instruction
• Strong subject knowledge and curriculum expertise in the relevant subject specialism(s)
• Ability to plan and deliver engaging, well-structured lessons that cater to the needs of students
• Effective classroom management skills and the ability to maintain a positive, safe, and productive learning environment
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with colleagues, parents, and other stakeholders
• Commitment to continuous professional development and a desire to improve teaching practice
• Flexibility and adaptability to respond to the changing needs of the school and its students
• Alignment with the school's vision, values, and commitment to international education.
