The School:

Situated 30 minutes north of Barcelona in the beautiful town of La Garriga, The International School of Catalunya (ISCAT), is an accredited British International School offering the National Curriculum of England and Wales from Early Years through to A Levels. Our mission is to offer a stimulating, engaging and challenging multicultural environment where the intellectual, emotional and creative potential of each student is optimised and respected. Requirements of the post:

We seek to appoint inspirational teachers with proven A Level experience in their subjects to teach full-time from September 2018. A love of the subjects and the ability to convey this to students is essential. The post requires an individual who is confident to coordinate the teaching of their subject at A Level and to help shape their respective departments.

  1. Teaching

You will be expected to teach 25 periods a week (1 hour lessons) and you will be allocated adequate planning and preparation time to minimize the impact of working outside of school hours. This will involve at least the following:

a) teaching the pupils in every period shown on your timetable except by arrangement with the Head of Department/line manager
b) in a class of mixed ability, differentiating between the different abilities
c) provide evidence of planning for progress and differentiation

   2. Other Academic responsibilities

You will be expected to do the following :

a) be responsible for a tutor group and registration
b) report to parents on the progress of each pupil you teach by way of written reports and in person at parents evenings
c) following and promoting the schools policies
d) attending weekly departmental/coordinator meetings
e) ensuring books are marked and students are aware of targets and how to develop and make progress
f) commitment to the UNICEF Rights Respecting Schools Award

3. Pastoral Responsibilities

a) to be a positive role model and promote the development of all students at ISCAT
b) to actively promote the community ethos of ISCAT and be an ambassador of the school
c) to be responsible for a tutor group and teach the allocated plans for citizenship
d) to be responsible for promoting and safeguarding the welfare of children and young persons for whom you are responsible and with whom you came into contact.
e) to uphold the schools behaviour policy and promote a positive approach to learning
f) adhere to all school policies and all associated requirements to help ensure each individual’s safety and well being

About ISCAT La Garriga International School of Catalunya

The International School of Catalunya (ISCAT) is a mixed, non-denominational school situated in the municipality in the province of La Garrige, half an hour from the centre of Barcelona, Spain. It is situated across three buildings on a single campus; Blancafort for its Early Years and Key Stage 1, Manuel Raspall for its Key Stage 2 and Xavier Calls for its Key Stages 3-5. It is an independent school that educates students between the ages of 3-18, with English as its main language of instruction, with Spanish and Catalan forming a key part of the programme. Working with the National Curriculum of England and Wales, it offers a number of British qualifications, including SATs, IGCSEs and International A Levels. It has an impressive number of accreditations, including membership of the International Primary Curriculum and The Council of British International Schools. It has also been recognised as a private foreign centre by Generalitat of Catalunya, an Edexcel exam centre and a UNICEF Rights Respecting School.

ISCAT was founded in 2007 as a place to deliver a British curriculum in Spanish surroundings. May 2016 saw the first students sit Cambridge English Examinations. It has recently undergone a building change, in which its Nursery up to Year 2 classes and office have changed location to its main campus.
