We are looking for an exceptional academic and pastoral mentor to support sixth form students at Jane Austen College, delivering high-quality pastoral mentoring for individual students and working as part of the wider student support team. 

The role holder will work with our students to help them achieve their personal and academic goals, as well as monitoring attendance and supporting parents and students with other pastoral concerns. The role may also involve leading independent study sessions with full classes. 

You will be a professional and highly motivated individual who is passionate about supporting students in achieving their potential. You’ll have an unshakable belief in every student’s entitlement to the highest quality education and ability to achieve, whatever their personal circumstances. 

You will also have: 

▪ The ability to engage positively with, and build working relationships with, a wide range of young people and their families 

▪ The ability to work effectively as part of a team with teaching staff and outside agencies

▪ Excellent interpersonal, written, and oral communication and presentation skills

▪ A willingness to manage your own time effectively, work flexibly and use your own initiative

▪ A degree or equivalent qualification

At Jane Austen College we deliver an aspirational, academic curriculum partnered with regular, high-quality extra-curricular activities taking in a wide range of culture, sport, and community engagement. We currently have Years 7 to 10, plus sixth form, within the school and look forward to welcoming a new year group in September. Growing gradually is allowing us to create an exceptional school, with the highest of standards. We are an English specialist school, with an additional post-16 specialism in humanities and the arts. We are also partnered with Sir Isaac Newton Sixth Form – the UK's first maths and science specialist sixth form.
