Academic Mentor (Full-time or Part-time)
Chigwell School is expanding its student support team and looking to appoint an Academic Mentor to help students improve attainment, build confidence and achieve academic success. The Academic Mentor will join the Learning Support department and work with teachers/departments and the Sixth Form Year teams to provide academic support to students from KS3 to KS5.
The Learning Support department is highly significant both pastorally and academically, and it is key to ensuring pupils fulfil their full potential across the Junior and Senior Schools. Chigwell pupils are selected on the basis of academic ability but there are a number on the learning support register. The intervention of the department helps both them and their teachers to work more effectively.
This is an excellent opportunity for a recent graduate with the relevant skills and a passion for teaching and learning. The emphasis is on academic writing therefore a degree in English is desirable.
The successful candidate will be part of a school that is not only highly successful academically but also in sport, music, and drama. The School offers an excellent learning environment providing a broad and balanced education.
We are located in the picturesque village of Chigwell just 10 miles from central London but on the edge of Epping Forest, and we enjoy over 100 acres of beautiful grounds.
