There is a wave of change and improvement at Bishop Challoner, can you be part of our journey of improvement?

We seek to appoint an ambitious and enthusiastic Academic Mentor for our Sixth Form.

Following a period of significant change Bishop Challoner Catholic Federation of schools are continuing to evolve and improve. The two schools will merge from September 2023 creating one co-educational school.

The ideal Academic Mentor will be confident, have a proven track record of working effectively with young people and be willing to work individually and as a part of a team. This role will suit outgoing personalities who are looking for an exciting and rewarding role, and are able to develop a good rapport with post 16 students.

Recent, relevant experience that can be referenced is essential. You will also have an understanding of the emerging adult status of post 16 students, the UCAS process and of Enrichment and Personal development at post 16 level.

You do not need to be a practising Catholic to apply.

Ofsted (2021) Quoted:

-“Positive about the changes and routines that new leaders introduced”

-“New leaders and governors are ambitious and have set high expectations for all. They set about making important changes and have brought about notable improvements”

You will be required to:

·      Deliver high quality mentoring and monitor its impact in the learning community

·      Support the development and implementation of strategies which will contribute towards effective learning, behaviour and achievement across the Sixth Form

·      Contribute to a healthy, safe, happy and challenging environment in which Post 16 students can work hard, free of disruption, develop mutual respect for each other, grow in maturity and achieve their potential

·      Help students access Higher Education and other professional routes

·      Inspire, challenge and motivate students

We offer:

·      A strong commitment to your professional development and career management – excellent CPD and leadership development at all levels

·      An opportunity to be part of an enthusiastic and creative team

·      A supportive environment in which your enthusiasm will be encouraged, nurtured and rewarded

·      Outstanding exam results across the federation, with non-core subjects genuinely valued

·      A working environment focused on Teaching and Learning and raising standards for all

·      A positive and stimulating school climate which values the contribution of all staff
