An exciting opportunity has arisen to support the academic progress of pupils across St Peters First School, Old Cleeve First School and Danesfield Church of England School.

Hours - 30 hours per week

Working weeks per year: Term time plus 2 INSET days (38.4 weeks)

We are looking for an enthusiastic, flexible and conscientious person who is able to work as part of a committed and strong academic team. The role of a learning mentor is to lead the development of effective skills in a range of subjects including Reading, Writing, Oracy, Maths and Humanities from KS1, KS2 & KS3 with students needing targeted intervention, having a critical impact on raising standards and outcomes for the learning of students.

The job will involve working directly with students.  The ability to interact, empathise and support the acquisition of knowledge are key skills. Hence, experience of working in a busy school environment would also be an advantage.

They will also be responsible for organising and implementing appropriate internal programmes of intervention, supporting the student’s academic progress and behaviour for learning.

Knowledge of the local and national learning strategies to enhance literacy and numeracy is also key to this role along with the ability to effectively manage pupil behaviour in line with the school’s policies.

You will:

·      Have good ICT skills and have the ability to use a range of ICT packages, including Microsoft Office suite.

·      Be able to work in a fast paced environment whilst remaining calm and professional.

·      Be able to multi-task and use your own initiative to prioritise and organise your workload.

·      Be committed to building good working relationships with colleagues and pupils, and promoting teamwork with different departments.
