Job overview

The Academic Support Assistant will be responsible for ensuring students maintain a purposeful and focused environment in the school’s study areas. In seeking to maintain year-group bubbles, we are creating a second study space this year, so that both cohorts have access to a high quality silent study space throughout the day and after school. The Academic Support Assistant will take responsibility for one of these.

In addition, the Academic Support Assistant will support other key areas of the school as required, for example completion of administration tasks and helping with the organisation of our co-curricular and community programmes.

In fulfilling this varied role, the successful candidate will model the values of the school in being academically ambitious, committed to endeavour, having a strong sense of community and consistently reflective.

Key responsibilities of the role:

Student conduct

Supervise a year group study area, ensuring that students remain focused during long periods of independent study.

Ensure that the environment of study sessions is quiet and respectful of all the students’ needs.

To maintain high standards of conduct from all students by understanding the school’s behaviour systems and applying appropriate actions to deal with any concerns.

To answer queries from students in the study sessions in an appropriate manner that models the values of the school whenever possible.

Admin tasks

If requested to help with administrative tasks, to undertake those duties efficiently and accurately.

If required to provide help to the co-curricular and communities programmes, to complete all work efficiently, paying particular attention to representing the school in a professional manner when contacting third parties or members of our local community.

The role is advertised is full-time, but applications for part-time working will be considered.

The London Academy of Excellence Tottenham is committed to the safeguarding and welfare of children and applicants must be willing to undergo child protection screening appropriate to this post, including checks with past employers and the Disclosure and Barring Service.
