Academy Council Governance Professional (Clerk)

Location: Meetings can be clerked remotely, however, the successful candidate will be expected to attend one school meeting per year in person.

Salary: £48,000 pro rata

5 hours a week, 39 weeks per week

AET Schools is establishing brand new Academy Councils at each of its 57 schools from September 2022. We require a Governance Professional to clerk Academy meetings for 5 schools in the North. Hall Road Academy, Newington Academy, North Thoresby & Utterby Primary Academy, and The Green Way.

As a Governance Professional you will be required to :          

  • Clerk termly meetings of the Academy Council         
  • Provide effective administrative support to the Council         
  • Ensuring the Council is properly constituted          
  • Manage information effectively in accordance with legal requirements          
  • Attend training and briefings with other Governance Professionals in the team

Each meeting is allocated 2 days including travel time, therefore 10 days a year. In addition you will need to be available for a few additional days to clerk exclusions & disciplinary panels, as well as possibly covering other Clerks. 

The role and salary includes travel across the region for clerking duties and travel is included in the quoted rate. 

It is essential that the Governance Professional has a good understanding of the AET model of governance as explained on the Academy Council section of the AET website.
