Job overview

The Shooters Hill Campus, established in 2002, is one of only twelve post-16 academies in the UK. We are constituted as an Academy School but inspected as an FE college. We offer our 1,300 full-time students a wide range of qualifications, including 30 'A' Levels and a variety of vocational and other courses from entry level to level three. We have many excellent facilities including our own training restaurant and hair and beauty facilities which are open to the public.

Situated in the Royal Borough of Greenwich, we serve a varied community, preparing our students for life and work in the most exciting capital city in the world. We have been in existence for fourteen years and have established a good local reputation, with the result that we recruit well and have more than quadrupled in size since we were founded. Recent OfSTED inspections have judged us to require improvement, particularly in the areas of English and mathematics. This, combined with the financial constraints which affect all post-16 education, will present a challenge to our new director.

Our students, staff and governors are ambitious for improvement and confident that it can be achieved. The destinations of our students when they leave are impressive – of those students who left us last year 42% went on to further and higher education while 43% went into employment or apprenticeships. In the context of our commitment to high achievement for all of our diverse student body, we are particularly proud of our inclusive ethos – 16% of our students have education, health and care plans and our provision for them and other students with additional needs was judged as good by OfSTED.

We are looking for a director with a proven record of accelerating improvement at senior level in a school, college, or related sector environment, with a principled commitment to both inclusion and excellence in students' outcomes, and who will work closely with our external partners, existing staff and our enthusiastic and committed governing body.

We are offering a competitive salary: £100,757 to £115,000 (L37 – L43) (inclusive of inner London weighting allowance) with the possibility of more for an exceptional candidate.

The closing date for applications is midday on Wednesday 15th June 2016; shortlisted candidates will be informed on Tuesday 21st June.
Interviews will be held on Thursday and Friday 23rd and 24th June 2016.
