Accounting Assistant (Full Time 36hrs per week, Temp for up to 6 months)

Tameside College is seeking to recruit an Accounting Assistant to support and oversee key aspects of the Finance function. You’ll support our finance team within the following area but are not limited to Accounts, Sales Ledger, Cash and Purchase Ledger.

The successful candidate will be highly motivated, committed and have excellent attention to detail. Experience in a finance role is essential and the successful candidate would be AAT qualified or working towards. Having previous experience would be an advantage. Key duties are as follows but not limited to:

  • To maintain the integrity of the Sales ledger system(s).
  • To maintain the integrity of the Purchase ledger system(s).
  • To ensure all income is receipted, reconciled, safely stored and banked.
  • To ensure the records and paperwork are kept in a manner which complies with College and Audit procedures.
  • To assist in the preparation of monthly management accounts and annual financial statements.
  • To provide cover for the financial review of the monthly payroll and to assist with ad hoc payroll duties as necessary
  • To provide cover as necessary for Financial Services department and as directed by the Head of Finance commensurate with the level of responsibility for the post.
