Job overview

Due to the maternity leave of the Head of Department we are seeking an individual to join the Art department for a fixed-term period starting September 2017 which is planned to be for the academic year 2017-18. The successful applicant in the first instance should be a well-qualified and enthusiastic teacher of Art. The opportunity to be responsible for the running and leading of the Art department is available as part of this role. This is therefore an ideal opportunity for a teacher wishing to develop further in a friendly and positive environment.

The successful candidate will join a strong, positive and well resourced department.  All staff at Harlington benefit from the emphasis placed on professional development. In addition all teachers have laptops and access to high quality resources and ICT.   Teachers at Harlington are able to make a genuine difference to the achievement of all. This post will therefore appeal to colleagues who are able to promote high expectations within a supportive environment.

The display of student work is an important feature within the school environment. At the end of each academic year the GCSE exhibition and A2 exhibition is an important calendar event for our parents and students. Student work is available to view on the schools website.   The Art and Design department currently consists of three main teaching studios, and a Sixth Form study room with kiln room and a screen printing area. We also have facilities for photographic screen printing, and wash room. The department has a computer station in each room, digital cameras, visualisers and colour printer. Teachers in the school have access to fully equipped computer suites, if required. The work of the team is supported by a well-qualified Arts Technician.
