We are excited to be able to offer a maternity cover post to manage our school’s Activity Centre. The Activity Centre Manager co-ordinates the support given to the children and young people who access the Activity Centre throughout the year, ensuring a lively range of activities are always on offer to engage, educate and entertain.

Please note that the post holder takes responsibility for running the Activity Centre during the school holidays; there is an expectation that the majority of annual leave is taken within the school terms and during annual planned Activity Centre closures.

Our Activity Centre provides enriching recreational opportunities for inpatients, outpatients and siblings during term-time and during most of the school holidays. It is a key part of the school’s extended services offer. Pre-school through to teenage patients and their families visit the Activity Centre to use our small garden, take part in art and craft activities, enjoy music and drama sessions, play in the ‘Den’ with games console facilities and access other out-of-school activities and clubs. The Activity Centre is also used in term-time by the school to support the learning and development of nursery and school aged pupils.

This post does not require a formal teaching qualification but experience of working with children and young people is essential.

You will need:

·  a professional approach and an ability to establish quickly a positive rapport with children, young people, families and professionals

·  a minimum of 2 years consecutive experienceworking with children or young people

·  previous experience of a supervisory role and effective staff management

·  to show initiative and be able to plan and deliver workshop style activities

·  an ability to be flexible and to adapt to an ever changing environment, dependent on the needs of the individual and the activities on offer

We can offer you:

·  Excellent professional development through Great Ormond Street Hospital and as part of Camden Learning

·  The chance for you to be part of a team that really does make a difference to children and their families during the most challenging of times

·  Professional pride and respect
