About the School:
Newbury Manor School is a specialist school for young people aged 7 to 19 who have autistic spectrum disorders (ASD). Our tailored approach means we are able to support young people with a wide range of needs, from those who are broadly average in their ability to others, who have more severe learning difficulties.
We provide a total environment where young people are offered safe, secure and predictable surroundings in which they can come to understand their own areas of difficulties and learn skills and techniques in order to overcome them. This ensures that they are able to fulfil their potential socially, academically, physically and spiritually and enable them to rebuild their low self-esteem and self-belief.
We take pride in the environment we can offer. The school is located in a beautiful, quiet, rural location in Somerset in a Georgian manor house, which has a range of outbuildings and extensive grounds. Our ethos was created in the belief that a positive, supportive, achieving culture is essential for good pupil progress. We seek to maximise independence and individual potential so pupils gain the skills to live happy, meaningful and fulfilling lives.
Main responsibilities:
Front of house duties: answering phone calls, picking up voicemails and passing messages to the relevant people; monitoring various inboxes and either responding to emails or forwarding them to the relevant people; manning the reception doors as required, ensuring pupils are accompanied before leaving the school. Supporting staff and SLT in contacting parents/carers throughout the school day as needed.
Visitors: greeting visitors, offering refreshments and making sure they sign in; checking and recording ID; issuing Visitor badges and making sure they are returned; ensuring staff escort visitors and contractors around the school.
Working with the school SENCO to manage and administer the student review calendar.
Liaising with Local Authorities, Social Care, medical teams, CAMHs and External therapists in preparation for student reviews.
Holding responsibility for paperwork for reviews, sending paperwork before meetings, taking minutes, collating paperwork following meetings and submitting to Local Authorities.
Ensuring all student EHCP documentation is updated and stored appropriately.
As part of Aspris Children’s Services, we are immensely proud of the career pathway and training we can offer you. We ask that you can demonstrate the values needed for a role, transferable skills and life experience and in return we will give you all the training and support you need to progress.
The successful candidate will be able to adapt to company systems and have a good level of English and Maths to fulfil the role.
Above all, we provide a supportive and collaborative working environment where you can flourish in your career and feel incredibly rewarded by helping those who need it most.
If you want to progress your career working in Education, Aspris Children’s Services will help you get there.
Aspris is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children. All applicants must be willing to undergo safeguarding screening appropriate to the post, including checks with Disclosure & Barring Service and at least 2 references which cover the last 3 years; for all our services we will request references from where you have worked with either Children or Vulnerable Adults. Please be advised that references may be requested prior to interview for roles within our Schools.
