About St. Hild's Church of England School

St Hild's Church of England School, named after Saint Hild of Whitby, the founding abbess of the monastery at Whitby, is a mixed, 11-16 secondary school located in Hartlepool, County Durham. It has been part of NEAT Academy Trust family of schools since April 2021.

St HIld’s aims to serve its local community by providing a high-quality, fully inclusive teaching and learning environment in a Christian context. We work tirelessly to ensure each child enjoys their education and is able to achieve the best they can, both academically and in terms of their personal and social development. "Life in all it's fullness" John 10:10 is our motto an we work hard to make this a reality.

A full range of enrichment and extra-curricular activities include sport, music, community and charity work, drama, dance, environmental work and outdoor pursuits. Pupils can train as Student Librarians and, in Years 10 and 11, as Junior Sports Leaders and House Captains as well as being a School Prefect.

Our recent SIAMS inspection rated us GOOD with EXCELLENT strands in the impact of Collective Worship and the effectiveness of Religious Education.

Values and vision

As a Christian community, St Hild’s’ educational offering is based on the values of care, equality, honesty and responsibility.

Students are encouraged to have increasingly high expectations of themselves and are nurtured to develop growth mindsets so that they believe that their intelligence can grow and that effort leads to success. The school offers full support so that they can achieve their academic potential, as well as develop both personally and socially.

Traditional teaching methods are complemented by innovative and creative methods of curriculum delivery.  The school takes in loco parentis seriously and makes every effort to make the decisions that parents and carers would make for their own children if they could.

Welcome from the NEAT Academy Trust CEO

St Hild’s Church of England School is one of six schools within NEAT Academy Trust. Set up in 2017 to build on the existing collaboration between the schools, our vision is that:

“We belong to an innovative, sustainable trust working collaboratively with partners to share our vision and values that enables all learners within our influence to be well prepared personally, socially and academically for the next stage of their lives in a changing world.”

The development of our workforce is crucial to the success of our young people and joining NEAT will give you access to a wide range of CPD opportunities as you develop your career with us. Having a research school as an integral part of our trust also provides opportunities to work with other schools to use evidence-based programmes and practices and generate original research.
