Do you want to play a key role in the founding of an exciting, new, and innovative all-through school?

Do you want to move your career forward in an environment which nurtures talent and has huge scope for career progression?

Do you believe all students have the potential to succeed at a top university given great teaching and the right school culture?

Do you want to be part of a movement and team which will change history, exploding the myth that economic disadvantage should serve as an excuse for poor attainment?

Our aspirations for One Degree Academy are simple and ambitious: through inspirational teaching, every One Degree Academy student will develop the knowledge, attributes and cultural capital to succeed at university and in a productive career. Students, staff and parents will ‘strive for excellence: step-by-step.’

Our goal is that, regardless of background, every child leaves One Degree with an offer letter to a Russell Group University. Students may decide a high quality apprenticeship is better value for money, or choose to follow their passion for sport or creative arts, but they will be making that choice from a position of power. To achieve this, we are focused on 3 things:

• Outstanding academic achievement and scholarship

• Partnerships with world-leading businesses and universities that raise aspirations

• Educating the whole child: teaching non-cognitive capacities and personal attributes in a loving and disciplined family environment

We aim to transform the lives of our students through our persistent and relentless focus on the small but important details and actions necessary for great teaching and learning. We know that greatness is achieved through perseverance and incremental improvement - ‘one degree’ at a time. This idea is at the heart of our school.

We are seeking to appoint a dynamic and innovative administrator to help found our new school. This is an exciting and rare opportunity to build the foundations of One Degree Academy, and to be part of something profound and special.

We are more interested in your commitment to continual and incremental improvement - and in an unfaltering belief in the potential of every child - than in extensive experience. We are growing every year and expect our founding staff to be at the forefront of our development: there are no limits to where your journey could end.

Every decision at One Degree Academy is defined by the question “does this support great learning, care, or opportunities?” If the answer is “no”, we don’t do it. This means that all of our developing systems are as simple, transparent and effective as they can be.

Successful candidates will have an opportunity to:

• Work alongside the Principal and COO playing a central role in the founding of our new school

• Work as part of a small team of committed and dedicated staff in a ‘no excuses’ culture which strives for excellence

• Join an organisation and team utterly committed to staff development and growing great people and leaders - step by step

• Receive weekly instructional coaching and feedback, enabling you to improve and excel in what you do,

We are clear that you will leave One Degree Academy a better team member than you were when you joined.

Successful candidates will:

• Have an unfaltering believe in the ability of all children to achieve a place at university given great teaching and a strong culture of aspiration and achievement

• Welcome positive feedback and be committed to the idea of continuous improvement and self development

• Have the mindset and abilities to make a tangible impact on the lives of our students and on the community of Edmonton.

• Have a good understanding of school administration systems

We are committed to transforming the lives of students in the community of Edmonton and to making history by exploding the myth that disadvantage should serve as an excuse for poor attainment.

If founding a genuine all-through school appeals to you, and if you share our passion for raising standards of education and going above and beyond in the search for equality of educational opportunity, then we would love to hear from you.
