Job overview

Ecole Jeannine Manuel is seeking to appoint an Administrative Assistant for an immediate start. The Administrative Assistant is responsible for supporting with the administrative, financial and organizational processes within the school. They will also act as an initial point of contact for parents, visitors and other stakeholders so will be an ambassador for the school and embody the value, vision and ethos of the school in all interactions.

The ideal candidate will be proactive, enthusiastic and approachable, and will have strong administrative & IT skills. Experience working in a school is not necessary but would be considered a plus. 

Knowledge of French would be an advantage, though not a requirement.

General duties will include:

  • Updating manual and computerised records/information systems
  • Assisting with managing the school’s email inboxes, ensuring the school meets its expected response times and emails are forwarded to the relevant staff member as necessary 
  • Organising and distributing incoming and outgoing post
  • Providing administrative support to staff as needed 
  • Covering at reception where necessary - helping to deal with telephone and face-to-face enquiries efficiently and in a professional and supportive manner 
  •  Ordering, monitoring and managing certain stock
  • Carrying out filing, printing and photocopying
  • Assisting with organising parents’ evenings and other meetings and events, including the organisation of rooms and equipment, and providing refreshments as required
  • Keeping records in accordance with the school’s record retention schedule and data protection law, ensuring information security and confidentiality at all times 
  • Seeking support from other colleagues where necessary to respond to complex enquiries 
  • Responding to messages promptly and accurately, passing on information to relevant staff members as necessary 
  • Assisting staff and pupils with the information and support they need
  • Writing and sending email responses that are professional and uphold the school’s vision and values  


Desirable skills & experience 

  • Experience working in a school 
  • Excellent computer skills, including knowledge of Excel or other data manipulation tools 
  • Outstanding communication & organisational skills 


This is a full-time position. Working hours will be spread between 8.00 am – 6.00 pm (40 hour contract).

École Jeannine Manuel is a mixed, non-denominational, all-through school with nursery but without sixth form, situated in Bloomsbury, Central London. Opened in September 2015, it is the sister school of an elite private day school in France, also called École Jeannine Manuel and founded in 1954. 

The London branch of École Jeannine Manuel is an Ofsted-registered independent school which will provide 500 places for nursery, primary and secondary-aged students when fully subscribed. It currently enrols pupils through to Year 10, and is working towards introducing students up to Year 13. The original École Jeannine Manuel is France’s largest non-denominational independent school, with more than 3,250 students across both Paris and Lille.
