Job overview

Do you wish to work in a school committed to the development of all students in its care?

Do you wish to support an aspirational Inclusion team which is improving the life chances of all students by providing key administrative help?

Do you want to build the capacity of the school’s two Deputy Headteachers by assisting them in key aspects of their roles?

Westminster City School is a successful 11-18 Christian non-denominational comprehensive academy for boys with a mixed sixth form. Ours is a vibrant learning community situated in the heart of central London with all the opportunities and advantages of an inner city school. In March 2022, the school’s OFSTED inspection confirmed that the school remains a ‘Good’ school but we are restless in our ambition to be ‘Outstanding’ in time for the school’s 150th anniversary in 2027.

“Pupils are happy and safe. They typically spoke enthusiastically about their school and said that the school community feels like a family.” OFSTED 2022

You are joining a successful and supportive administrative team who are collaborative and driven by ensuring the highest standards. We are ambitious for every student, and see all support staff as essential in providing transformative education.

As part of this vital new role, you will split your time between being a Personal Assistant to both Deputy Headteachers (Academic and Pastoral) and providing specific administrative support for the school’s Inclusion Manager and SENDCO. We particularly welcome applicants from a global majority heritage background and are open to looking at flexible working arrangements for excellent candidates.

The candidate:

You, like us, will share our belief in the highest standards of academic attainment and personal development in a comprehensive setting.

The successful candidate will have:

·        Strong personal values of excellence, integrity and compassion;

·        A passion for ensuring that all students receive the very best opportunity to thrive academically and personally within our community;

·        The desire to offer opportunities for our students beyond the classroom that strengthen awareness and understanding of the world around them; and

·        Excellent administrative skills including up-to-date understanding of a range of MS applications and strong attention to detail.

We believe in developing our staff and have a dynamic and supportive management team and an effective CPD programme which includes support for progression for all support staff. At Westminster City School, we will offer you:

·        A supportive and collegiate staff culture;

·        Staff benefits including an interest-free season ticket loan and cycle-to-work scheme.

·        A central location making travel to school easy.

“Pupils enjoy a wide range of extra-curricular clubs, including in music, drama, sport and debating… Leaders enrich this programme with links to businesses and organisations that are based locally” OFSTED 2022

Leaders and Governors are proud of and ambitious for the school. They consider staff workload carefully, for example when introducing recent changes to the school’s feedback policy” OFSTED 2022

The school is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and expects all staff to share this commitment. The successful applicant will need to undertake an enhanced criminal records check via the DBS.
