Newfield School is an impressive, well-resourced special school situated in Blackburn, Lancashire providing high quality specialist education, care and therapy for children and young people aged 2 - 19 years with a wide range of learning difficulties including autism, PMLD, SLD, complex medical needs, sensory impairments and physical disabilities.

We have been judged as Outstanding by Ofsted (February 2016) – please click here to see our full Ofsted report.  In Spring 2018, under the Leadership and Management of Newfield, we will be opening a new provision for Autism.

In this period of growth we are looking for an enthusiastic and committed administrator to join our busy, demanding and rewarding school, starting as soon as possible.

You will provide a general administration support for a busy school business services team and will help us to provide a first class school reception service, ensuring our visitors are greeted in a friendly and professional manner.

The role will be varied and fast paced – you might be covering our school reception one minute and helping to arrange an internal training course the next.

This role is ideal for a highly organised ‘people’ person who likes variety, multi-tasking and enjoys going the extra mile to help others and delivering a great administrative service.

Our staff often need bilingual support in order to communicate with parents and visitors for whom English is an additional language so the ability to speak fluently in Urdu, Punjabi or Gujarati would be an advantage but is not essential.

The role is 37 hours per week for 39 weeks per year during term time including 5 annual professional development days.   The hours are generally 9am to 5pm Monday to Thursday and 9am to 4:30 pm on Friday.  However our reception is open from 7:45 am so there may be a need to work flexibly around these times in accordance with the needs of the school.

The role is fixed term to 31st July 2018 whilst we work through a remodelling process with our business services staff.  However there is a possibility that there will be permanent administrative posts available at the end of this process that the successful candidate could be considered for.

Find out more about our outstanding school by visiting www.newfield.org.uk.

To apply for this post please download and complete the Newfield application form - due to our safer recruitment procedures we are unable to accept any other type of application form.

Completed application forms are returnable to contacthr@newfield.blackburn.sch.uk or to Newfield School, Old Bank Lane, Blackburn BB1 2PW for the attention of Gemma Woods.

Closing Date: 12 noon on Friday 20 October 2017

Selection Process: Thursday 26 October 2017

Newfield School is committed to safeguarding and protecting the welfare of children and vulnerable adults and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment.  This post is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974.

Any offer of employment will be subject to a satisfactory check supplied by the Disclosure and Barring Service.  The check will include any cautions, reprimands or final warnings as well as convictions.
