Job overview

Are you a ‘people person’ with a real knack for connecting with others and making them feel welcome? Do you experience a deep sense of satisfaction when offering customer service that exceeds expectations? If so, you may just be the perfect candidate for our upcoming role of Admissions Assistant.

At Monkton, we believe in the power of education to transform lives - by extension, our Admissions Team views it is a real privilege to help and support each prospective family as they make important decisions about the future of their child.

As an Admissions Assistant based at our Prep School, you'll enjoy the unique opportunity to guide prospective families through our admissions journey (from enquiry to enrolment) and see their excitement grow along the way. Best of all, you will be working within a supportive, knowledgeable and close-knit team who values collaboration.

For this role, we are looking for someone who will be:

Friendly: As the welcoming face of our school, you will greet prospective parents with a genuine smile and sense of enthusiasm.

Organised: You will have excellent administrative skills and the ability to keep multiple tasks on track simultaneously.

Attentive: You will engage and connect with families, listen to their needs and guide them through our admissions process with care and efficiency.

Collaborative: In addition to working closely with your Admissions colleagues, you will also partner with members of staff across the school, including the Senior Leadership Team, on the facilitation of the Prep School admissions process.

Detail-oriented: You will need to keep records and database information up-to-date at all times to ensure accuracy and efficiency.

Articulate: You have excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.

Previous experience in an Admissions role isn’t essential. If the above sounds like you and you have a track record of delivering good service with excellent, demonstrable customer care skills, we would love to hear from you!

About Monkton Combe School

Monkton Combe School is an independent, co-educational, mainstream, all-through school, catering for children aged 2-18. Situated just a mile from Bath, in Somerset, the school takes boarders and day pupils. It maintains a strong Christian ethos and is proud of its exam results and reputation for good pastoral care.

Monkton Combe School was founded as a senior school in 1868 by Reverend Francis Pocock, who had previously been shipwrecked on his return from West Africa. Just six boys joined his class in the Lent term, but the school expanded over the course of 20 years and in 1888 the junior school opened. Now 400 boys and girls attend Monkton Senior.

Monkton pre-prep was founded in 1937 and caters for 120 boys and girls aged 2-7. In September 2016 it moved from Combe Down to a new building on the prep school site.

Girls joined the school in 1992 when Clarendon School merged with Monkton Combe. Clarendon continues to flourish as a girls’ boarding house at the school.

Independent Schools Inspectorate report

“A suitable induction programme for new boarders includes the assignment of a mentor, information booklets and guidance from house staff. Boarders… were confident that there are staff they can turn to for help, and they appreciated the support available from senior pupils. Effective management and leadership are exercised both at senior management level and by house parents.”
