Job overview

This is a fantastic opportunity to join a forward-thinking school with an established reputation for innovation and excellence. We are looking for a motivated and highly capable Admissions Coordinator to join our team. This post is offered as a permanent contract from February 2022.

The successful candidate will have excellent time management and organisation skills, and will be able to communicate effectively and professionally with pupils, staff and parents. The Admissions Coordinator will assist the Admissions Manager in responding to parental enquires both by phone and in writing, planning visits and taster days for prospective families, as well as Open Mornings, entrance assessments and scholarship events. Experience of data input and the drafting of correspondence are essential.

Colston’s is a thriving co-educational day school on the outskirts of Bristol, easily accessible from the motorway network and with approximately 800 students aged from 3 to 18. The Upper School occupies a glorious thirty acre campus and has all of its facilities on-site.

It was announced in December 2021 that the school will change its name. The process of choosing a new name has begun and will involve students, former pupils, parents and staff. The new name will be announced in the summer of 2022.

We are proud of our high academic standards and our innovative approach to the development of teaching and learning across the school and we value the range of opportunities we provide for our pupils outside the classroom.  In our recent ISI report the school was judged excellent in all areas; raw examination results are consistently good, value-add scores are high and we have waiting lists in most year groups.

The hours for this role are part time, working a minimum of 22 hours per week, across a minimum of 3 days. The post is term time (including INSET days) plus 3 weeks during the school holidays. Included within this, and in order to support entrance exams and Open Days, is a requirement to work an average of 2 Saturdays and 2 evenings per academic year. Exact hours and working pattern will be discussed at interview.

You will receive a salary of £20,493 to £22,183 FTE per annum pro rata (NJC pay scale point 8 to 12) dependant on skills and experience. Other benefits include 25 days holiday per year, plus 8 bank holidays, a lunch during term time, free parking on site, a defined contribution pension scheme and staff discount on school fees in accordance with the staff remission policy.

To discuss the role, please direct your enquiries to Emma Jennings, Finance Director, at ejennings@colstons.bristol.sch.uk

Closing date for applications: midday, Monday 10th January 2022.

Interviews will take place during the week beginning 17th January 2022.

Colston’s is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children young people and vulnerable adults, and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment.

Applicants will be required to undergo child protection screening appropriate to the post, including checks with past employers and the Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS).

The safeguarding responsibilities of the post include:

- To promote the safeguarding and welfare of children and young persons for whom they are responsible or come into contact with;

- To be supportive of and committed to the School’s policies on Child Protection;

The post is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 and the School is therefore permitted to ask job applicants to declare all convictions and cautions (including those which are "spent" unless they are "protected" under the DBS filtering rules) in order to assess their suitability to work with children.
