Nelson and Colne College Group is a beacon for educational excellence, made up of a family of colleges – Nelson & Colne College, Lancashire Adult Learning & Accrington & Rossendale College. 

We are looking for an enthusiastic, competent and highly motivated Admissions Officer to join our close-knit Marketing team on a permanent basis working 37 hours per week. 

Working in a busy and varied environment; the successful candidate will administer the processing of all student applications ensuring that data is effectively inputted, checked and maintained securely and that service standards are met in line with the College’s Admissions Policy and Service Level Agreement.

The ideal candidate will work with excellent attention to detail and have a good understanding of the application process for 16-18 and adult audiences. The Admissions Officer will be able to provide relevant information about the application process and guidance on areas such as travel, finances, and course information. You will also be required to attend interview evenings across all sites. 

Main duties include:

• Deliver excellent customer service at all times being the first point of contact for applicant enquiries, providing essential information and supporting students in making appropriate choices

• Coordinate the College interviews; setting up appointments, collating schedules, processing student letters and interview information, liaising with curriculum, dealing with enquiries, preparing materials and providing meet and greet at the events

• Play a key role in supporting the College’s Internal Progression procedure, ensuring students are supported in processing their College applications, provided with timely information, arranged appropriate interviews and reports are produced timely to monitor progress

The ideal candidate will have:

• 5 GCSEs or equivalent including Maths and English at Grade C or above (IT is desirable)

• Level 3/4 Qualification in a relevant field e.g. Business Admin (desirable)

• Experience of data inputting and administrative delivery in a fast paced environment

• Experience of excellent customer service delivery

• Experience of successfully working in an education or training context (highly desirable)

About Nelson and Colne College

Nelson and Colne College, located in the town of Nelson, Lancashire, offers further education to 1,600 full-time students and 3,500 part-time adults. The college was founded during the reorganisation of education in Pendle in the early 1970s and created by the merger of several local sixth forms. 

Recent investments have included a £2m engineering facility, an all-weather sports pitch and gym, fully equipped science laboratories, and student study and social spaces. In January 2017, Nelson and Colne College launched a university centre to offer a range of higher education programmes in East Lancashire and beyond.
