The School:

Merchant Taylors’ School is a large Independent Boys’ School, situated in 286 acres of parkland in Northwood, Middlesex. The School was founded in 1561, is owned by the Merchant Taylors’ Educational Trust and moved to its present site in 1933. There are four distinct boys’ day schools on campus. The Nursery, the Pre-Prep & the Prep cater for 340 boys, while the Senior School has some 950 pupils. The School employs over 140 teachers and 160 Support staff across Merchant Taylors’ School.

Main duties and responsibilities:

Efficient administration of the School’s Admissions process at 11+, 13+ and 16+:

·        Processing of Registration Forms

·        Creating maintaining admissions data within the school database and creating and maintaining in-depth spreadsheets for Admissions data

·        Administrative running of the entrance examination days

·        Organising and scheduling interviews

·        Production of offer letters ensuring correct documentation for specific offers

·        Scheduling and running of Heads of House/Medical meetings

·        Support of transition of pupils into the school

·        Sending of mailings to new starters

·        Constant communication with parents


Enquiries

·        To provide an approachable and welcoming response to enquiries concerning pupil admissions.

 

Liaising with Prep Schools

·        Open communication with Prep Schools regarding prospective candidates

·        Ensuring key Admissions Information and dates are communicated

·        Sending new boys’ reports and public exam results

·        Ensuring lists of candidates are accurate including ISEB registration


Attendance at Events (some Saturdays and evenings)

·        Assisting in the organisation of Open Mornings and being present to meet with parents

·        Assisting in the organisation of the Mini Open Afternoon

·        Running of the Scholarship Assessment afternoons

·        Organising the annual Prep Heads Business meeting and Admissions Social Event

·        Representing the school at admissions events organised by Prep Schools


Overseas Applicants

·        Work closely with the Registrar to review overseas applications

·        Maintain appropriate records during the admissions process and onboarding

·        Assist parents as far as possible by answering any queries about the VISA process


General Duties

·        Integral member of the Admission Team

·        Creation of Admissions Forms for appropriate data collection, throughout the year for a variety of uses

·        Email and telephone correspondence

·        Liaising closely with other departments both academic and support

·        Checking immigration status of candidates

·        Overseeing the organisation of School Tours including liaising with Junior Common Room  and briefing them each year

·        Maintaining the Admissions Archive


Safeguarding responsibilities:

It is the post holder’s responsibility for promoting and safeguarding the welfare of children and young persons for whom s/he is responsible, or with whom s/he comes into contact and to adhere to and ensure compliance with the School’s Safeguarding Policy Statement at all times. If in the course of carrying out the duties of the post, the post holder becomes aware of any actual or potential risks to the safety or welfare of children in the School s/he must report any concerns to the Head Master.

Hours: 38.75 hours (08.15am - 5pm Term-time plus 5 weeks during the school holidays)
