Job overview

Empower Futures as an Advanced Teaching Assistant at Outwood Academy Haydock! Are you passionate about education and driven to make a real difference in young lives? Outwood Academy Haydock, a thriving 11-16 academy serving the vibrant community of St Helens in Merseyside, is seeking an exceptional Temporary Advanced Teaching Assistant (until 31/08/2027) to join our dynamic and supportive team! We're not just any school. Our recent "Good" Ofsted rating (September 2024) reflects our unwavering commitment to providing an outstanding education for every child. As part of the renowned Outwood Family since 2022, we offer a welcoming environment where students are at the centre of everything we do. This is an exciting opportunity to play a vital role in shaping the educational journey of our students and fostering their success.

As an integral part of our small team, you'll directly contribute to student progress by delivering planned learning activities under the direction of the class teacher. Your role will focus on supporting students to access the curriculum within both classroom and online learning environments, facilitating the effective use of adaptive technology and specialist resources—such as laptops, speech-to-text software, and magnification aids—to promote independence and engagement. This dynamic role involves assisting across multiple lessons and subjects, while also supporting student health, safety, and well-being by monitoring movement around the academy. This includes overseeing transitions and emergency procedures while maintaining an appropriate distance to encourage student independence. Furthermore, you will be responsible for monitoring and recording progress and responses to learning through agreed systems, sharing any concerns with the SEND team as required.

We are looking for someone who brings a genuine enthusiasm for working with children and young people, supported by solid foundational skills evidenced by Level 2 qualifications in English and Maths (or equivalent) and a relevant Level 3 qualification relating to working with children and young people. You will need confident IT skills to navigate diverse environments and support the use of specialist learning tools, alongside exceptional communication skills that enable you to build positive relationships with both students and staff. A warm, approachable manner and a positive attitude are essential for success in this role.

Why choose Outwood Academy Haydock?

You'll be joining the Outwood Grange Academies Trust, a forward-thinking organisation deeply committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children. We offer a supportive and collaborative work environment where your contributions are valued, and your professional development is encouraged.

Ready to take the next step in your rewarding career?

If you're passionate about making a real impact and possess the skills and qualities we're looking for, we encourage you to apply. Be part of a team that's dedicated to unlocking the full potential of every student at Outwood Academy Haydock!
