Outwood Grange Academies Trust seeks applications from outstanding applicants with integrity, imagination and energy for this rewarding role.

Outwood Alternative Provision Eston is an innovative alternative provision centre, principally for students from Outwood Academies in the Northern Region who need additional behavioural, social, emotional or mental health support. In line with our absolute commitment to inclusion in its widest sense, this is an alternative provision for vulnerable students who display challenging behaviours and are often at risk of high levels of fixed-period exclusions or permanent exclusion.

We are an inclusive, and caring centre recently judged ‘good’ by Ofsted. At heart, we aim to ensure we best meet the needs of our students. Our centre supports the most vulnerable students including those who have SEND and are disadvantaged. Many of our students experience significant barriers to learning and some have adverse childhood experiences.

Operating much smaller classes than our mainstream academies, this alternative provision focuses on personal development and the health and well being of students, whilst not losing academic rigour. We will focus on ensuring that all students can achieve well and are able to move to their next stage with confidence, be it education, employment or training.

The centre is a collaborative provision between Outwood Academies Acklam, Bishopsgarth, Bydales, Normanby, Ormesby, Redcar and Riverside. The centre will be located on Burns Road, Eston in a modern building with excellent facilities.

We are looking appoint an Advanced Teaching Assistant, working as part of a small team, to provide learning support for the students and staff of Outwood Alternative Provision Eston. The role will work with teachers to support progress and attainment of teaching and learning by supervising small groups or individual students under the direction of teaching staff and/or line manager by working flexibly in various environments including online learning. This might involve assisting students across multiple lessons and subject areas at one time.

The successful candidate must have Level 2 qualifications in English and Maths or equivalent, as well as Level 3 qualification relating to working with children and young people and possess strong IT skills, be a good communicator, approachable and have a positive attitude towards staff and students.
