Job overview

Adviser for Equality Diversity Inclusion Team

(Part-time 0.5 Term time only)

This is an exciting career opportunity for a dedicated teacher or adviser to join our Equality, Diversity and Inclusion Team (EDIT) to improve outcomes for vulnerable and disadvantaged pupils in Kent and beyond. You will be joining a small team of specialist educators who are skilled in promoting equality and diversity in schools and equal opportunities for all pupils. Our focus is on pupils with protected characteristics including those who have English as an Additional Language (EAL), those from ethnic minorities, refugees, Gypsy, Roma and Traveller (GRT) children and young people and those who identify as LGBTQ+.

You will have significant experience, knowledge and understanding of effective practice to promote equality, respect diversity and raise the achievement of vulnerable and disadvantaged learners. A secure knowledge of equalities legislation is essential, as well as a broad understanding of the Education Inspection Framework and National Curriculum frameworks. In addition, you will have a good knowledge, understanding and experience of strategies and approaches that lead to accelerated progress, raise achievement and improve engagement, wellbeing, and inclusion of all pupils but particularly those who are vulnerable and disadvantaged.

EDIT advisers have a specialist role within the team based on their experience, knowledge and expertise. We are particularly keen to hear from you if you have a deep passion and understanding of how to support those children and young people who identify as LGBTQ+ and/or GRT children and young people. Other areas of expertise will also be considered.

The successful candidate will have the skills and enthusiasm to design and deliver training, develop resources and carry out commissioned work to support the development and improvement of schools and settings.

The Education People is a one-stop shop for education services and is based in Kent.    Our advisers support schools to improve learning, wellbeing and children’s development across the full age range from early years to young adults.
