2 years FTC commencing September 2018

Salary £35k pa, taxable in St Helena

Could you offer outstanding teaching which results in high quality learning for students and adult learners?

A sub-tropical island of spectacular and beautiful landscapes in the South Atlantic with a warm and friendly population of 4,500, St Helena is a self-governing overseas territory of the UK. It’s now poised for transformation with the recent opening of a brand new international airport offering scheduled commercial air access.

There are four schools on the Island; one secondary and three primary. The curriculum broadly models the English education system. 6th form study includes ‘A’ level courses and distance learning supported programmes.

In addition to school based classes, you will provide at least one regular learning opportunity for adults aimed at providing ‘tourism French’. Giving support and advice to teachers and trainers in this specialist subject you will take the lead in promoting French and other languages across all educational settings. As you develop a bank of learning resources for French and other Modern Foreign Languages including ICT materials, you will assess, monitor and track the performance and progress of pupils.

Qualified to degree level and experienced in teaching French to GCSE and A Level, you should have a track record of outstanding teaching to a wide range of learners and teaching styles. With a thorough knowledge of the National Curriculum requirements for French and Modern Foreign Languages and of the Secondary Curriculum through to A Level in the UK, you will have provided professional development and training for other staff.

We offer a benefits package that include 30 days leave pa, fare paid travel, freight and relocation allowances (see overseas vacancy information).  An application form can be found at www.sthelenacareers.com where further information can also be found, or you may contact Kedell Worboys on 0203 818 7610 or email: shgukrep@sthelenagov.com. This is where applications must be sent and received by 12 April 2018. Interviews will be held in London.
