Job overview

St Julian’s is a thriving, over-subscribed comprehensive school that has an excellent reputation within the local community as a result of quality teaching and constructive support for students.  We are a large secondary school with around 1,600 students currently on roll.

We are looking to appoint a forward thinking professional to teach Science to Key Stage 3 and 4 students who have statements of special educational needs.

The Centre is one of Newport's learning resource bases and comprises 53 students with moderate to significant learning needs.  LDC students are working between P levels to Level 2 on entry.

The person we are seeking will:

  • preferably have a strong background in Science;
  • be able to differentiate work to cater for all needs;
  • ideally have a AEN background;
  • have high expectations of all students;
  • deliver lessons in a fun and practical way.

Please refer to the Job Description and Person Spec for further details.

The ideal candidate will also have experience of teaching ICT to Key Stage 4.

We would consider applications from non-Science specialists as long as the candidate can demonstrate experience of AEN practice.

If the above sounds like you, we would love to hear from you.

Please support your application with a maximum 2 pages on the supporting statement. We are particularly interested to read about your experiences and achievements which have prepared you for the post. Please demonstrate on your application form how you meet the criteria and why you would like the position.

Please note, the closing date for applications is Friday 7th October 2016 at midnight and interviews will take place on Friday 14th October 2016.  Candidates will be expected to teach a lesson, which will be observed, as well as undergo an interview.
