Working arrangements: 15 hours per week (Monday - Friday, 3pm - 6pm). This position is term time only with the potential for additional hours during holiday periods (holiday club support)

We are looking to recruit a passionate and creative individual with previous experience of working within a school setting or after care provision. This would ideally include experience of working within the EYFS. Possessing a Level 3 qualification in childcare and ideally a current Paediatric First Aid certificate, you will be able to demonstrate a nurturing approach and clear understanding of safeguarding responsibilities.

This is initially a one year fixed term contract and will be reviewed towards the end of the contract.

Previous experience working in a lead role would be advantageous, however the ideal candidate must be able to demonstrate supervisory skills and the ability to work independently, using their initiative. The ability to communicate effectively with children, colleagues and parents is essential.

The key responsibilities of an After Care Lead include, but are not limited to:

  • To plan a variety of activities and create a weekly timetable to reflect this.
  • To ensure After Care is well resourced, purchasing equipment / resources as needed from the After Care budget.
  • To manage After Care staff (including casual workers), taking responsibility for authorising staff timesheets where applicable.
  • To role model best practice, inducting new staff and offering support and advice as required.
  • To build positive and effective relationships with parents whilst always promoting the school.
  • To actively promote a two-way flow of information between the setting and the parents and other carers of children attending Aftercare.
  • To manage registers and work closely with admin and bursary teams to ensure that children’s attendance is captured clearly to assist with the billing process.
  • To monitor the late collection of children and ensure clear communication between school, home and the bursary for billing purposes.
  • To work in collaboration with other professionals who might be supporting children in Pre-Prep and Prep.
  • To manage the smooth transitions of children between school and Aftercare.
  • To oversee and assist in the preparation, cleaning and maintenance of resources and equipment in the indoor and outdoor environment.
  • To ensure the Pre-Prep hall is always looking smart and reflects the quality of education and care we provide as a school.
