About St. Margaret Clitherow Catholic Primary and Nursery Voluntary Academy

At St Margaret Clitherow Academy, our Mission is clear, “Love one another as I have loved you,” John 13:34.

At St Margaret Clitherow, we recognise that for children to fulfil their potential, the Gospel values need to be explicitly named, defined and modelled so that all children can be supported to understand how these values relate to their lives both at school, at home and in society. We use the examples of Jesus, St Margaret Clitherow and the teachings of the Catholic Church to develop children who have a strong faith in God; a passion to celebrate each other and live out their faith; a sense of integrity; the knowledge of what’s right and wrong and the courage to serve others and to speak up for their beliefs and what is right.

We believe that every child is unique and that ‘the child is at the centre of everything we do.’ At the heart of our school is our Catholic faith and we want to give our children every opportunity to Encounter Christ to ensure that they develop spiritually and morally as well as academically, physically, socially and creatively.

We strive to be a place where children are happy and enjoy their learning in a safe and secure environment. We are committed to developing the talents and skills of every child to enable them to achieve the best that they can. Our children are at the very centre of our SMC Curriculum. Through our curriculum, we want children to have a strong understanding of British History whilst seeing themselves in our curriculum so that they can be the experts and teach their peers. We want our children to think about their futures and work hard so that they are ready for the next stage of their education.

Our school is part of the Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Multi-Academy Trust which brings together the 36 Catholic Primary and Secondary schools in Nottingham City and Nottinghamshire.  Our priority is to ensure the very best Catholic Education for all young people in our community, whatever their circumstances. We will achieve this together, through a strategic approach to sharing best practice, effective challenge and support from a central standards and performance team and opportunities for high quality Continuing Professional Development offered by the CMAT’s teaching school, The Nottingham Initial Teacher Training Hub.
