Alternative Provision Teacher

September 2021

MPS/UPS

It is an exciting time for the School of Core Achievement at North Cambridge Academy as we are expanding and reorganising our provision. We are seeking a highly skilled Alternative Provision Teacher who is passionate about making a difference.

Young people in our School of Core Achievement often have a history of complex life circumstances and social, emotional or mental health needs; they may have experienced significant life challenges and almost always have unmet needs. We are looking for a new team member who can help our young people find the confidence they need to reveal their full potential. We are committed to achieving the best outcomes for all our students through access to excellent education and support.

We are seeking an Alternative Provision Teacher with enthusiasm, creativity, and a passion for teaching. You will plan and deliver differentiated work to meet the needs of individuals and groups promoting progression, continuity, and quality of learning by having clear intentions for children’s learning and by using your knowledge of school policies and National Curriculum requirements. You will also direct the work of an HLTA co-worker and external professionals to ensure young people receive the very best learning opportunities and support.

You will support the pastoral needs of the students that will allow them to grow as people and develop a positive sense of self concept, emotional resilience and positive self-esteem. You should be able to accurately assess need, deliver teaching reflective of need, and measure targeted incremental progress; in order that students are prepared for transition and integration into their next phase of their lives. Therefore, you will have flexible skills and experience across KS3/4 to ensure curriculum delivery, pastoral and behaviour support.

Essential requirements to be successful in the role are:

• Demonstrable knowledge and experience in delivering lessons in a wide range of subjects up to KS3 and KS4 effectively

• Able to build strong positive relationships to ensure our vulnerable and disadvantaged young people maintain the capacity to learn in order that they are prepared for their next phase of education and life

• Evidence of ongoing professional development.

• Experience of supporting pupils with SEMH.

We can offer you:

·-An induction programme for new staff

- Weekly training sessions and staff meetings to ensure effective communication

-Employee Assistance Programme (EAP) to help support you in everyday life as well as career decisions

-Staff social activities, including staff fitness and wellbeing sessions

- Free breakfast in the school restaurant and free tea and coffee throughout the day.

- Ample on-site car parking in a city location.

- As a member of the CMAT Trust, there is potential to be promoted and/or work across a number of schools in a close geographical area.

We are situated to the north of the city, approximately a mile from the centre of Cambridge. There is easy access from the A14 and we are close to the new Cambridge North train station. Cambridge is a vibrant university city with a reputation as a great place to work and live.

Please note that we do not accept CV’s. Please note that all applications will be considered upon receipt. We reserve the right to close the advert early should the right candidate apply.

The closing date for applications is 9am Tuesday 29th June. Interviews will take place for shortlisted candidates on Thursday 8th July 2021. We will be reviewing applications on an on-going basis and this advert may close earlier than advertised depending on the level of response, early applications are encouraged.
