Purpose of the Role
To deliver high‑quality, personalised learning for KS3/KS4 pupils within a trauma‑informed Alternative Provision. The role supports academic progress, emotional regulation, behaviour, and readiness to learn. The postholder will work as part of a small, relational team to meet the needs of learners with SEMH and SEND profiles.
Main Duties and Responsibilities
Teaching & Learning
Deliver engaging learning sessions across a range of subjects (KS3-KS4).
Adapt teaching to meet individual needs, EHCP outcomes and emotional presentation.
Provide structured routines and a calm, predictable learning environment.
Support learners to re‑engage with education through relational and trauma‑informed practice.
Contribute to planning, sequencing and assessment of learning.
Provide feedback that supports progress, confidence and self‑esteem.
Behaviour & Emotional Regulation
Build strong, trusting relationships with learners.
Support pupils to regulate emotions, manage behaviour and develop coping strategies.
Implement individual behaviour plans and risk assessments.
Use de‑escalation, relational practice and restorative approaches.
Model calm, consistent and emotionally regulated behaviour at all times.
SEND & Inclusion
Work with the SEND link to implement reasonable adjustments and support plans.
Contribute to learner profiles, EHCP reviews and evidence gathering.
Identify emerging needs and escalate concerns appropriately.
Ensure practice aligns with the graduated response and AP expectations.
Safeguarding & Pastoral Care
Follow all safeguarding policies and report concerns immediately.
Maintain professional boundaries and act as a positive role model.
Support attendance, punctuality and daily routines.
Communicate professionally with parents/carers and external agencies when required.
Teamwork & Professional Conduct
Work collaboratively with the ALT Nottingham team to ensure consistency for learners.
Participate in training, supervision and reflective practice.
Maintain accurate records, including behaviour logs, attendance notes and learning evidence.
Contribute to the wider development of ALT Nottingham as a growing provision.
The Employee may be required to carry out additional duties that are necessary for the effective operation of ALT Nottingham provision.
